Maybe. But I find it hard to believe that a very recent critically acclaimed Oscar-nominated movie (that also did ok at the box office) by one of the biggest directors of all time, starring two of the biggest actors of all time, will be out of print for very long.

It seems like it might be OOP. Amazon only has third-party sellers offering it for about $50. Best Buy has it, but GRUV, the official Universal site, also has it marked "Sold Out"
seems hard to believe they'd let that go OOP, but if even the official site says that, wow

this is also an AMAZING transfer, a 35mm scan that really shows a LOT of fine detail, just looks great overall, actually one of the better looking UHD around

The Post has been unavailable new, on either BD or UHD, from Amazon for about a year. I think it's gone for good, but only time will tell.

I feel like Disney has decided that anyone who wants a copy has long since bought one, or will buy one of the countless secondhand copies floating around, and that it's not worth the effort of pressing more.

I would think that if you want a particular film because you want that particular film, it shouldn't matter what branding is on the package. It's the film that counts.

Film rights and ownership change hands all of the time. Always have. Always will. Classic Warner films used to get released by MGM. Now classic MGM films get released by Warner. As do RKO films. Classic Paramount films get released by Universal. Now classic Fox films are getting released by Disney. It's all the same.

Is Mystery Men back in print? Notice that Amazon is selling it again for a pretty cheap price.

Possibly, but I don't think anyone knows for sure. They don't have stock at this moment, but are getting it soon. All indications to me is that this is OOP and they have just found some stock somewhere. DD is on backorder and Bull Moose/Target/Walmart/Best buy are Out of Stock.

Anyone that wants it should buy it NOW with no hesitation. It will only go up from 8.99.... and soon maybe a LOT.

Universal is pretty good about keeping stuff in print. Switching most catalogue to pressed MOD seems to have really helped with that. I'm sure somebody can name an outlier, but every Universal title I've wanted that has appeared "OOP" has eventually come back in stock, so I'm personally not stressing about stuff like Bowfinger and Hulk 4K. Even Gruv just says things are 'out of stock,' not 'out of print' (that I've seen at least).

No reason not to jump on Mystery Men for $9.99 - if you want it, now's a fantastic time to grab it. But those $100 copies of Bowfinger on ebay? Nah - I bet a repress will come eventually.

Thanks for the heads up, just ordered a copy from my local Best Buy. I didn't want to miss having this in my collection. All said, a pretty fun movie...

The Disney-Fox thing is just one too many steps over the barrel for me, so sue me. So is the Amazon-MGM thing. Allow me my minute obsessions.

I'll be doing my best to preserve 20th Century Fox's Home Entertainment in my house!

Is there a reason Universal will still print DVD and not BD? Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but amazon has The Signal at only $9 for DVD and $40 bd. Thread has it listed oop. Could there just be a lot of new DVDs still floating around?

DVD is still over 70% of the physical media market/sales, believe it or not!!!
There's your reason.

Wow. I picked this up from gruv.com at the end of March for around $9 during one of their sales. Had no idea this was winding down, stock-wise. Checked them as well to see if they had any copies for you there, but it's "currently out of stock". Maybe they'll have more available eventually?

I can't quite believe it, myself...but those are apparently the stats! So from their perspective, DVDs are still way-outselling Blus and 4Ks...

Looks like Universal might be making making more discs again on some titles. Mystery Men, End of Days, Bring It On were all unavailable recently and Amazon seems to be taking new orders for upcoming stock so I think you're right. Perhaps they've just been very lazy about keeping up with pressings so maybe more Sneakers and Bowfinger will eventually happen.

The UK never got a standard 4K release, just a Zavvi steelbook. Only seen the film on DVD, so definitely want to pick it up on 4K.

That title, and a bunch of other recent Fox UHDs, like Ad Astra and Murder on the Orient Express, have been unavailable new for many months now on either BD or UHD or both.

Also, the fire sales that Amazon had on Ford v Ferrari and Jojo may indeed just have been regular sales, it's true, but they looked suspiciously like what Amazon does to clear stock of a discontinued item.

We'll know in six months, when we see if those titles are available again.
Are there any other US exclusive Fox 4K releases I should look out for? Maybe The Kid Who Would Be King 4K, which is a fun film. The Hate U Give seems to be third party only. Importing sucks though. Cheapest I can seem to find a new copy shipping internationally from eBay is $34, with an additional $11 in import charges. "Currently unavailable." on amazon.co.uk.

The Post is $25+14+12 on UK eBay, so too expensive for me to want to upgrade. CeDe has it for 27 euro, but they tend to list items they don't even have in stock.

Eddie the Eagle 4K is $60 on amazon.com! And after dismantling Blue Sky, The Peanuts Movie is gone too.

Can You Ever Forgive Me?, one of my favourites of 2018, seems to be used only on Amazon. Films like Battle of the Sexes seem to still be available for now but never got a UK release.

Other Fox titles I'd like to import include The Brothers McMullen, The Ghost and Mrs Muir.

Anyway I despise Disney.

Well, I always prefer original pressings, so Fox logo is preferable to WB logo so not the end of the world. But I would rather die than own a disc which says 20th Century Studios/Disney on the back.

Good news! I really like how Universal operates.

As for "lazy about keeping up with pressings," there is a huge backlog at replication facilities, so it's understandable that studios are prioritizing new releases and big sellers over less popular catalogue titles. Even for something as big as the new Indiana Jones 4K UHD set, they missed their targets and didn't have enough stock on day 1 to fill all preorders. I do expect Universal to repress Sneakers, Bowfinger, Hulk 4K, etc., but they'll likely be slotted for replication when the manufacturing facilities get caught up on the higher priority stuff.

Wow.

And somehow that comment is still not as extreme as some of the things I've heard from collectors pertaining to slipcovers or lack thereof...

Considering Kino just announced Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bowfinger gets a Kino edition.
