James Cameron-less Arnold is no better than Van Damme or Segal. Stallone is by far the better actor and action star. Rocky, First Blood, Copland. Arnold's movies that weren't done by Cameron were good because the production values were high. They've both done some real stinkers.

I really like Sly, particularly in Demolition Man, but I had to go with Arnold for Terminator and Predator.

Has to be Stallone, he can act. Schwarzeneger became a parody of himself with his later films. As for who would win in a brawl, Schwarzeneger.

So it has to be a tie.

Thumbs up I voted Arnold Schwarzenegger

Sylvester Stallone is good. However, Arnold Schwarzenegger is in a whole other league from Sylvester Stallone.

Of course, Clint Eastwood is better than Arnold Schwarzenegger and much better than Sylvester Stallone.

Clint Eastwood is just as excellent in adaptability and drama as he is excellent and fun as an action star (all five Dirty Harry movies, In the Line of Fire, Tightrope and much too many others to mention are solid proof of this).

Arnold Schwarzenegger is fairly close to being as excellent and fun as an actor star as Clint Eastwood. Although Sylvester Stallone as an action star is very good and a lot of fun, he is not even close to Clint Eastwood and Arnold Schwarzenegger in this regard.

As far as adaptability and drama, Sylvester Stallone is about the same as or a bit below Arnold Schwarzenegger (Collateral Damage solidly proves this). However, both Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger are equally a far cry from Clint Eastwood in adaptability and drama (in this regard Sly might be a bit farther cry from Clint Eastwood than Arnie based on Collateral Damage).

I know this is an old thread, but I love the topic! I just ordered Rambo (IV) on blu so I could get to $25 on an Amazon order so I'm in a Stallone mood. That being said, I didn't vote in the poll because it's just too hard for me to choose - Rambo? Commando? Rocky? Running Man? Demolition Man? Total Recall?, etc. etc.

Thank you for the template.

I've bolded the movies I enjoyed by both actors.
(-1 for Judge Dredd?? Really?? Zero Rambo III and Lock Up??)
=/

I think based on their body of work, Stallone is clearly my better actor. He also writes and Directs and has more overall to offer in a film making.
He has a larger body of work for MY preferences than Awnold does.

Besides Stallone did action, comedy, sci fi and porn. For that alone he out does Ahnold.
Further, Stallone is running the Expendibles, Ahnold has a bit part...proof!
;p

YO ADRIAN! WE DID IT!!!

Stallone

ps; Im really dissapointed nobody knows about one of my FAV Stallone flicks evah...Paradise Alley (1978). It could have been a Coen Bros flick.

This one is extremely hard because they are both the greatest action stars ever. I had to give the edge to Stallone for Rambo and Rocky, 2 of my favorite franchises.

I think if Swarzenegger never did Predator, probably the most perfect action movie ever, this would be an easy poll. It's pretty even though. Here are my highlights:

Swarzenegger
Predator
Terminator Series
Commando

Stallone
Rambo Series
Rocky Series
Cliffhanger
Demolition Man
Over the Top
Copland
Expendables (I have a good feeling about it)

My vote goes to Arnold. Always like both Sly and Arnold, but I give the edge to the govenator.

Sly may be the better actor, writer and director; but Arnold's movies just seem more fun for me.

Honestly, have people forgetten about The Running Man and Total Recall as far as sci-fi/action movies. These are almost classics now.

And at least Arnold's comedic movies worked out better for him than Sly. I loved TWINS and KIDNERGARTEN COP.

Junior was okay, and I have a soft spot in my heart for JINGLE ALL THE WAY. The reason being, I know I put my parents throught that Hell around Christmas time looking for toys
