I think the UHD is terrific for the most part. Some here don't like the color grading for the Krypton scenes. It doesn't bother me that much, but I understand the reaction, as much of the color is drained from the actors' faces (particularly the Council scene).

Otherwise, I think the movie looks about as good as it can, given how it was filmed. And despite being lossy, the 5.1 taken from the 70mm six-track sounds quite good.

And as others have mentioned, the 4K comes with the earlier theatrical cut Blu-ray. And the Warner Archive 2-disc set contains both the TV cut and Donner's "Special Edition" cut and it's related extras. So with those two releases, you'd have pretty much everything that's ever been available for the original movie (aside from the feature-length documentaries that cover the whole series or the whole franchise).

I’ve got a lot more issues with STM on UHD than just the weird grading of the council scenes, but as with Grease the inclusion of the 70mm audio means it’s an automatic win.

That said, I do hope Warners decide to put the Special Edition onto 4K at some point.

Ned Beatty was so good as Otis, that it was years before I realized how serious an actor he was. A terrific talent.

Damned shame, but what a mark he made on popular cinema and at 91 he had a bloody good innings. Godspeed sir!

Richard Donner had a wonderfully diverse filmography, and gave us some genuine classics. Rest in peace, Richard.

Superman is still the greatest superhero movie in history and simply one of the greatest, biggest and most epic masterpieces of all time.

Donner was a legend. Too bad very few people will remember him in Italy today, just because - few hours ago - there has been a huge death/loss in our country that crushed us: Raffaella Carrà, the biggest and most popular Italian TV star.

Superman II for me, and non superhero movie The Goonies of course (although I never realized he did Ladyhawke and Lethal Weapon so will need to rewatch those now). RIP to both people

I don't know how many directors paid their dues on television for as long as he did but he finally got the movie career in gear when he made The Omen. If you check out his television directing credits it boggles the mind. From Gilligan's Island to Twilight Zone to fugitive to Wild Wild West to The Banana Splits to Kojak. Have Gun Will Travel, etc., etc. The list is endless and thank God they finally gave him a shot at the big screen in a movie as impressive as The Omen.

Hey Disney how about The Omen on 4K? Richard Donner Gregory Peck and Jerry Goldsmith deserve it.

God has blessed him to live a full and prosperous life for 91 years, and it was just his time. Death is a part of life and there is no way around it, and It's something that we all have to prepare ourselves for because we're not going to be on this Earth forever.
