Free tip. If you are looking to engage in a respectful conversation with people, responding along the lines of ‘I don’t care that you think it’s atrocious’ is not a good starting point
Except I'm not insulting anyone for simply saying they think it's bad - it's just an invitation to elaborate if you want to. If you don't want to, that's okay too. Sorry you felt pressured to respond in such a rude way.

Since I used the word 'atrocious' which you quoted, I felt your post came across as rude, so I responded in the same tone to which your post came across to me.

Happy to chalk it down to miscommunication.

I think most of the criticism from my perspective of the situation comes from their generic/cheap and cartoonish look. We have the main slasher front and center with things in the background. Numerous low budget horror features, both new and old, utilize this style of design and I feel like die hard fans, especially the ones being most vocal about it, are upset that this beloved franchise got treated this way. When I say cartoonish, I am not trying to insult the creator because obviously creating these are hard, I think the colors are largely just fine, but since the images are generated/drawn etc., they just kind of look hokey. They would have probably been received much better if the images were real and spliced together professionally

From the perspective of someone who is completely unfamiliar with the Halloween franchise, if they were to see these on a shelf, they might infer some unfavorable things about the films due to the presentation/style.

I think keeping uniformity is important though, especially if they release the rest of the movies later on. So I would hope SF doesn't cave and mid release change up their strategy, because once the set is complete, the uniformity will be a nice touch, especially with all the different michael's and his ever-changing mask.

Good ole Blu-ray.com. Lots of interesting people here for sure...

Either way, love the new Alone in the Dark artwork. Also, love original artwork. The magic of the collector editions is that you can choose which cover to display! Can you believe that! They give you a choice! Not sure why so many people are getting worked up over the artwork and are about to give themselves a stroke over nothing.

And while my gut instinct tells me that an Evil Dead box set is unlikely (again, due to Lionsgate), after thinking about it, it's not that outlandish. The Evil Dead is actually owned by Renaissance Pictures (like Halloween is owned by Trancas), and Evil Dead 2 is actually owned by StudioCanal (which SF have licensed from before). So while I wouldn't bank on it happening, I wouldn't be SHOCKED if it happened either.
The 4K box set was a joke. I'm confident the reason they're doing single releases is because they cannot do another complete set. And I feel it's safe to say they will not be releasing 6-8 on 4K.

I feel like Shout could license the first Evil Dead the same way they did for the first Halloween, as you mentioned. I'm not completely sure how the second one would work out. The only reason I see it as a possibility is because they licensed Hail to the Deadites but it doesn't seem like something that would get a solo release, but including it with AoD 4K doesn't feel appropriate considering it's about the whole franchise.

But that's the thing, for most of us die hard collector, the slipcover is a nice bonus, it displays the artwork a lot better than the regular cases. And the slipcover will obviously not be reversible. It would have been so much better if the slips had the original posters (especially since slips are mostly for die hard fans and collectors, since they go out of print first) and then you let people have the choices with the sleeves instead. But when you put such dismal artworks on the slip, you really don't put a lot of incentives for collectors to grab them on day one.
Plus, the whole They live and Prince of darkness gave a lot of us false hopes about future 4k releases, since those had the original posters. Anyway, it really doesn't matter. Honestly, this whole ugly artwork will just help me save some bucks in the end, i'll just end up passing on those. I already own these movies in multiple formats and such bad art decisions will only help with my decision. :P

You're right about the slips. I throw mine away, but I know they mean a lot to some people, so I guess that makes sense that some would be frustrated in that regard. I guess an option for Scream would be to offer two slip options.

That sucks, I guess I will apply for a job to be on the Scream Factory team so I can grab a copy of the Halloween UHD discs. I will also bug my co-workers there to get the rights to the Jaws sequels and put the Psycho sequels on UHD.

Oh man, the Jaws sequels are my number one movies for Scream to release. Sure, they'd have ugly artworks haha but it would be really nice to have some extras for Jaws 3 and The revenge especially, there is so little information about both (especially Jaws 3!).

A lot of people are familiar with Halloween 1 and not the others. I'm rather confident that these new slipcover artworks aren't going to bring many newcomers onboard for the sequels. Some people like to criticize fussy collectors here but the fact is covers help sell the product. On top of that Lionsgate release of 1 physically looks more appealing as they used the original cover. So there's that too.

Not getting worked up here mate. Some people might be slamming their fridge doors and crying into their Marvel Avengers pillows but I ain’t one of em. Just enjoying the freedom of being a customer and giving my opinion. The new artwork is poor, pales in comparison to the original and is a waste of money. It’s all good.

Wonder if there will be any Shout Select titles for the month. That's what I'm interesting in knowing since we should know all the Scream titles.
