I couldn't possibly disagree with you more! CLIFFHANGER was a great
action flick, one of the very best of the 90's---quite frankly, I can't see
how anybody that likes action flicks wouldn't enjoy it.

I love action movies and I loved nearly all of Stallone's but come on the opening scene with the broad dangling from the wire was horrible. And Rooker's acting was terrible in this movie. To call this one of the best of the 90's is a serious stretch.

I always liked Cliffhanger (from what I remember). John Lithgow has always made a tremendous villain. (great actor)

When I saw this as a kid, I wanted to arm wrestle everybody I could just to overuse that line, lol.

I agree.

CLIFFHANGER is not a franchise, it's one film. Unless you have multiple stories with characters you are invested in this doesn't make sense. I mean I like Gabe Walker but do I really want to see him over a series of films?

Where is everybody getting this multiple films idea from, did I miss something the article made me think they only wanted one. But since we are into 1993 remakes now, why did they skip Home Alone, The Sandlot, and Total Recall.

really? I don't know-- I love action films too but as far as Stallone goes I have 2 favorites-- CLIFFHANGER and DEMOLITION MAN. I remember being
absolutely WOWED by CLIFFHANGER in the theatre-- I loved John Lithgow
as the villain, I must say I thought the opening scene was intense, the
locations and scenery were spectacular, the action scenes were great--
it IS one of my favorite action movies. I know many people think Renny
Harlin is a hack and maybe he is but I also loved DIE HARD 2 which he
directed...

Oh, well, they never show movies anymore anyway, so the joke was pretty well outdated to begin with. )

Hollywood is clueless. They will make a movie out of anything that has even the slightest chance of making a buck. I also enjoyed the original Cliffhanger, but this should not be getting remade. There might have been potential for a Sly sequel in the mid 90's, but this boat has long set sail.

I agree, just leave Cliffhanger alone. It was a great standalone action movie. If you want to make another that happens to take place on a mountain just do it. They probably did try to do that but when their script was turned in the execs in the room said "Everyone is going to say we are ripping off Cliffhanger. Let's just say it is a reboot, reboots are hot right now."

Just leave it alone.

Well very likely because Total Recall & Home Alone were release in 1990

I didn't mean they came out in '93 I meant since they where already remaking movies from up to '93 they might as well just remake those 2 while they are at it with destroying newer movies.
