It’s a bummer than Igans316 got banned. He was really bringing us such great data on streaming bitrates. I was hoping to see comparisons/measurements between the old Apple TV 4K and the new one to see if there’s any differences.

Sony's Bravia core should be at the top at this point considering it can go up to 80mb and the minimum to stream is 43mb. The streaming on it is basically watching a 4k disc and gets better with IMAX enhanced. Should take a look when possible.

Depends on what you have connected to it. The new ATV 4K includes the 2.1 HDMI standard, which has only been out for a couple years on TV's....I'm not aware of any other streaming device with HDMI 2.1 ports. It looks awesome on the new model Sony TV's (A90J) FWIW.

Problem is the BRAVIA CORE service is only available on the top-line new Sony TV's...but I agree it looks awesome, and sounds just as good with IMAX dts sound.

Well I've bought 3 new devices this year, all of which have the newer HDMI 21.1 standard. A Sony A90J 65" TV, a Sony PS5 and the newly redesigned Apple TV 4K with the new remote....and for a short time I did have the older ATV 4K (2017) hooked up to the TV, and I can definitely see a noticeable quality difference in the picture not only in clarity but also in the increased color spectrum HDMI 2.1 affords you.

It doesn't even support FRS right now: https://www.imore.com/new-apple-tv-4...i-21-potential There's no difference in PQ between the new ATV 4K and the old one right now. |
