I think a lot of Criterion titles are safe. Especially the ones with 2K masters. But movies that are just now coming out on Blu-ray like King Kong 76 from Shout, you just know that it will get a UHD release within a year or two.

Probably not, it's with Paramount. We're just now seeing Paramount put out a lot of their older stuff on BD, King Kong 1976 won't be on 4K for a while, if it makes it to the format.

Also, I might add that this is a major increase in the number of titles from MGM coming to 4K. I and probably some others didn't imagine we'd see 12+ UHDs coming from MGM's catalog in the next year coming. It's a surprise, but a welcome one for sure!

I'm hoping Kino releases a 4K UHD ROCKY box set of all 6 films at some point. I'm sure Stallone has finished his director's cut of Rocky IV by now. I can't wait to see his re-cut of the film! (although I'd prefer both versions to be included in any potential release).

Would never happen. After Bond, Rocky is MGM's bread and butter.

I just hope they release it before the Amazon takeover.

Bummer, I thought this was going to be the original body snatchers in 4k. No Intrest in the remake.

Did you anticipate a 4K upgrade? I didn't. Shout's Collector's Edition had a beautiful new transfer - I would've never unloaded it. Not sure what I'll do with my Arrow steelbook, though. Maybe I'll stick the Kino disc in it.

Very good. I just saw it on the Scream Factory BD a few weeks ago. I will buy this edition.

I had a spare copy. It would probably be a bit harder to unload it now, though, if I hadn't done it then.

Good to know. I was reluctant to buy it and now I know it needs more treatment. I only like the 50's version. Such a classic even with that PC ending we know how it was originally intended and that goes fine with an imagination.

Hmmm. Interestingly, I used to own this triple feature of this with Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs. https://www.amazon.com/Collection-Si.../dp/B00GW97EG6 All now released by Kino in 4K.

I very much prefer this version to the original. It's absolutely brilliant. I also prefer John Carpenter's The Thing more than the original.
