Well considering how bad the faces and hands look it's obvious the artist can't draw period. It's the worst artwork I've seen in recent nemory

Amazon US send everything in this picture except Crusoe in one large Jiffy bag, overseas. They’re so cheap it hurts.

Is Empire of the Sun a first edition? If so, good score!

Car seat cover at a strange angle. Seeing as they appear to be lying on a car bonnet, or a hood if you're 'murican.

Not as odd looking as her right leg though which makes it appear as she has no abdomen.

Trying for a cheap book cover look with the 10c thingy in the top right corner. Definitely not a masterpiece.

Even more bizarre looking at the poster which gives you the cover in large scale, it appears to be Slaters' left leg. Helluva contortionist.

Seemed like it at first glance! Was just sitting in the doorway in a £1 clearance basket. I remember liking the film when I was younger, keen to revisit it and now the source novel too.

Ha-ha! Bottom-right is Clarence's* left leg leaning on the hood of the car. Top-left is a dog-eared page.

*We need one of the cosplayers to show that the pose is possible.

If that's supposed to be his left leg, it looks like its been run over by a steamroller.

Well done. Seems like first hardback editions are going for about £80 or so on Abe Books in good nick.
I remember finding the first UK paperback of Crash at a charity shop. Sold it for about £100 on eBay, so people buy Ballard.

He's saying: Lee, the reason I'm talking with you is I want to open Dr. Zhivago in L.A.

Sara Deck's artwork is normally very good. I really like her Suspiria poster. She did some excellent work for Midsommar and The VVitch as well.

Yeah. I don't like the style of her work much generally but her other stuff definitively has a technical competence which seems to be missing here. Is it possible (and this is a stretch) that this is intended as a parody of a cheap pulp novel cover and therefore deliberately a bit shonkey?

Not sure why they'd try to parody the covers as anything but fantastic works of art (contains some suggestive material):

Above is a modern take (sign me up for the animated feature!).

They should’ve got whoever does the covers for Hard Case Crime books.
