I don't live in Los Angeles (yet), but I have friends there and visit almost every year. My first time going to the New Bev was in 2009 to see Stunt Rock (I think Brian Trenchard Smith was there for a Q and A and I remember thinking it was so cool to see genre legend Clu Gulager sitting in the front row). Over the years, I have seen a lot of cool things there (including rare Chinese prints of some Shaw Brothers films). Easily my favorite theater (and probably theater popcorn) of all time.

I haven't been there since before the remodel happened. I hope that it can reopen at some point when it is safe to do so!

After watching the DNR version, the 4K completely rocked my world. It’s got to be one of the biggest upgrades on 4K.

It certainly is. The detail of the jungle is striking in 4K and HDR.

Last year I think they did a triple feature of Terminator 1&2 followed by...Dark Fate, lol. But I live in Florida and the only Alamo that *was* gonna open in this state (before Covid nixed all our plans) was all the way up in Orlando. A good 3-4 hour drive one-way for me.

Only the 4K disc is non-waxy and the very first (poorly encoded) Blu-ray release. The Blu-ray in that set is the hideous Ultimate Hunter release, not even worth 4.99. I'm not sure whether it is locked, but it belongs in the bin anyway.

I do have one, but I just happen to have it because the HDD/BR from Panasonic I needed came with it, and I currently have three players in use and the 4K one is in a location I don't really watch movies at. And it will stay there for a while. Certainly gradually as the older players break down I will replace them and certainly they will probably all have 4K but for now I want to be as versatile as I can and don't intent to purchase 4K titles because they are 4K titles, I have no interest in more resolution at the moment.

I wouldn't go so far as "great", but it is miles better than the UHE. If you aren't 4K capable then it's the one to have. That said, the 4K is miles better than the old BD too.
So far Predator and American Psycho are the most massive 4K upgrades I've seen, but I haven't got Die Hard or Big Lebowski yet and hear those are on par.

I'm currently enjoying Predator: Hunting Grounds on the PS5. Been playing so much I decided to pull the trigger and buy the 4K edition.

Aside from the much better PQ, one of the most impressive things to me about the 4k disc is the HDR. Many times, I disable HDR on my 4k TV when watching my 4k discs, but so many of the night scenes really look phenomenal on this release!

It's pretty stunning to me that we still don't have a proper standard Bluray release of this movie. You know that they realize they fked up when they released wax edition, only to release the 4k version later on, completely untouched by DNR. Almost makes me think they're refusing to put out a proper regular Bluray, hoping people will jump to 4k since that's the only place to get the best transfer.
