i'm on the same page as you. ifa. cedia. i have no clue how important these are. personally, i find all of the player announcements quite boring and irrelevant to the war. internal competition is great and we can continue releasing all the players we want, but as previously mentioned, the pricing is what matters. hd dvd hit blu ray with two straight haymakers with the paramount news and now the inexpensive entry level chinese hd-dvd players coming to the market...it has momentum. and all these rumors of a coming big announcement this, big announcement that...well... thats what we need. otherwise the general market will gravitate toward the cheap and marketable hd dvd. specs and players are great but they're peripheral. i want to know about prices, alliances and strategy...

I highly agree. We need some cheap pricing to keep us ahead in the game!

I think the price of the players is NOT the issue like the HD-DVD camp keeps spewing out.
Why would someone buy a $2000+ TV and then hold back $100-$200 on the Hi Def disc player? If they are going to spend that kind of money, it will be on the nicer things.
So as I see it, it would only matter if the prices of HDTVs were close to $500. That would make it mainstream and then the masses would start to buy the cheaper players.
