That's promising then since they've done this previously.

Yeah, it'd be better if Scream could do it, but thankfully this is a case where the community has the tools to step in and do it themselves.
Of course I'm paying for these discs so I don't have to learn how to do this or find corrected online versions. It's the studios that should do that kind of work so we can just pop the disc in and play it, not leave it up to the fans to figure it out themselves. Unfortunately as mentioned by others previously, the right-holders often don't take care of their film materials, leaving a mess behind when it comes to finding the various audio tracks and other materials later.

The original sound mixes for H4 & H5 haven't been available on home video since the original laserdisc and VHS releases in the late '80's/early '90's.

cmac has indicated that the original audio stems appear to be lost so the laserdisc audio is the next best thing.
There's two 5.1 mixes for H4. The one on the first DVD release and the one that's been on everything since.

The first 5.1 mix has all the elements that are missing from the other track.

If the original tracks are on the first DVD release and Laserdisc and they don't include them I'm going to be very disappointed. You can find the laserdisc and I'm sure first DVD release on eBay for relatively cheap. Also the H5 audio track is okay?

I agree. I had the Halloween LD and it sounded fantastic. As did many of of LD’s
Jurassic Park and Apocalypse Now rattled the house.

ahh, I never picked that one up since the transfer wasn't anamorphic. Interesting then that the tracks were messed up on all future releases

As far as I know, it isn't missing any sound effects like the H4 track is. But I still want to have the original stereo track restored for both films. All the other films in the franchise have their original sound tracks on disc.

And look at that, someone on fanres saying they'll do it as soon as the discs come out.

I'm willing to bet most aren't interested in some random internet person's bastardization.

Ripping a theatrical audio track and syncing it to a release that's missing it isn't an "internet person's bastardization" but ok

Sure it is. It is a bootleg of an official release. Most collectors, I'd wager, would rather just pop in the high-quality disc they spent good money on.

I guess someone scanning and making the original Star Wars available, is creating a bastardized version. And why would someone scan a print of Song of the South and make it available online, when they should know that what collectors really want is that pan and scan LaserVision disc with burnt in Japanese language subtitles in the picture.

I’m still trying to get my hands on the “bootleg” edit of The Exorcist with the original sound, Saul Bass logo, and original color timing. It’s somewhere out there, but I’ll be damned if I can find it.

Wait, what thread are we in?

I'm trying to imagine what new special features they could possibly bring to the table here. I'm guessing it won't be anything actually new, just a collection of previously released special features all together for a change.

I wouldn't mind a new critic/historian commentary.
