J-L I'll even give you a thumbs up too, though people in many cases may be happy with a cheaper canuk/ European import that is all region and has an identical cover. The proof that this title is locked is what? The back cover says zero about this

I don't see "Free Willy" on the WB list. It's OOP.

Thanks!

You'd be SHOCKED by how many people don't have region-free setups though, especially in the US.

I'm glad this list is about individual releases though, it's the only logical way to organize it.

J-L I'm truly shocked, as I knew it TV series on Blu (or DVD) are better viewd in the original broadcast standard.

If people don't want un/locked imports I have no issue with that, any more than if the same person prefers to make a Scalper's day.

Looks like Sony's "Coco Before Chanel" is also OOP. (In Amazon, Only 8 disc left in stock from one store, and the price is abnormally expensive.)

I think Sony Classics only licenses the films they distribute in theaters and on home video for a certain period of time. It doesn't seem like they buy US rights in perpetuity. For example, their BD of The Lives of Others went OOP a while back too.

Bowfinger needs to be taken off this list. It’s back in stock at numerous retailers (and on sale at Gruv)

Not sure what you mean. I clicked the link for Coco Before Chanel. Amazon no longer stocks the disc. One obscure online retailer has copies available through Amazon, but not sold by them or shipped by them, and sold at an inflated price. That, added to the growing list of Sony Classics BDs that have gone OOP, suggests this particular disc is OOP.

If you're talking about the other editions available, those are not the US Sony Classics disc. This list doesn't require that a film title be OOP in every edition worldwide, it's about listing individual OOP editions, primarily focusing on the US, since this is the US section of the forum.

J-L You appear very Binary in your interpretation of things. I just tried the url for Coco Before Chanel using the zip code 90210 (as in the TV series). Had I wished delivery would not have been a problem. The two options I tried where both affordable new at under $20 plus tax and shipping.

Yes it is without my checking 100% possible that the sony disc is oop, but that dose not mean that the other available affordable options should be dismissed as fakes/ knock offs.

Here in Europe it is quite common for the same movie with the same language options and region and content to have sharply different prices simply because of the different menu and cover language. Shipping is very cheap and quick.

If an individual must have an exact edition of a particular movie, I have no problem with that as they are spending the money that they worked for

What about Self/less (2015) from Universal? Seems to be a shortage.

Yes, I am being "binary" in my interpretation. That is the purpose of this thread. An individual release in a specific market is either still in print, or OOP, that is a binary thing.

Nobody is dismissing the other editions as bootlegs.

I'm trying to be polite here, but you really need to calm down and not jump on everyone here who posts valid information, and on me for backing them up, every time this happens.

This list is for OOP individual editions of movies.

The focus is also largely, though not exclusively, American. There are other threads for OOP editions in other countries, in the sections of the forum for those countries (UK, etc).

There will almost always be some edition somewhere in the world of some title that is still in print. The purpose of this thread is not to say that a title is OOP across the entire globe. Again, it is to list specific, individual OOP releases.

American buyers, for whom the North America section is primarily designed (there is a separate Canada subthread) generally need American editions of films, because foreign editions will often not play on their equipment.

I just looked again, I live in the 90036 zip code, in the heart of Los Angeles, about a mile from 90210, and the only seller that will ship that disc here is "Kaysville Bookstore," which is selling Coco Before Chanel at $36.92, a wildly inflated price.

I'm making every effort to be nice, but you're repeatedly misunderstanding the purpose of this thread - listing distinct OOP editions of films.

I do understand that you're trying to help by pointing out other foreign editions that may still be in print, but that really isn't relevant to the American edition seeming to be OOP.

Lots of deep catalog Universal titles seem to be selling out lately and then reappearing a few months down the road. At first I thought it meant they were going OOP, but now I think they're just low priority in the queue to be re-pressed, taking a back seat to new releases. Many of them are reappearing after an absence of some time.
