I was bloody well over the moon when I bought that disc, let me tell you that.

Oh, and as for the skeletons being "barely a minute", it's more like about 10 seconds, and even such a serious movie as this one still deserves that one cheesy relief shot.
Yeah I was so used to the Euro cut for years that getting the US cut - in widescreen! - many moons ago was a real surprise.

I have decided I really want the box set now. Full Metal Jacket wasn't hard to acquire, this one...going to be tough, I guess.

You're best to buy all the box sets and LEs and UCEs when they come out. Ever since my 2001 UHD crapped out on me, it's been impossible to replace because it's already out of print. We're at the point where FOMO is a legitimate problem in physical media.

Disc went bad? Could buy a standard edition and use the disc from that?

I also just got the LE for FMJ and sold my standard edition, but I've also accepted that the LE 40th for The Shining is lost because I'm not paying $300 for one movie that I already have on 4K. I'm not too concerned about a future comprehensive WB Kubrick box set either, because the one that the UK did with the (at the time) existing 4Ks didn't catch my attention, since I prefer each movie standing alone. Alongside that LE FMJ, I've settled for standard editions for The Shining and Spartacus, the slipbox 2001, slipcovered Dr. Strangelove from the Columbia box, and preordered the UCE for A Clockwork Orange.

Good luck on your quest anyway.

I will keep looking. A like new set went for $90 somewhat recently. I think I saw a photo of all the box sets on this forum and liked how it looked. I know Spartacus wont have one nor Strangelove, I think I want boxes for everything in that span from from 2001 to Eyes Wide Shut. So a box for EWS and Barry Lyndon, besides sourcing a copy of The Shining, and I would be good.

I didn’t even know there was a standard edition. I’ll look into that. Also, what are the rumored edits to the disc? I didn’t notice anything different about the movie.

Found a complete set of the tat on fleabay without the 4K disc for £40, I just put the 4K disc (which I already had) into it.

Way too late for it to be of any use to you but you’re mistaken on that one: https://www.everythingblustore.com/p...32611189424205

I really like the LE sets. Have bought them all so far but I wouldn't pay the kind of money you are seeing for them. Especially as you say, that you already have the 4K of The Shining.

Once this series of 4K releases is done I am going to make my own LE boxes for his earlier works. Fear and Desire through Paths of Glory. I have a printer friend who will do some professional boxes for me so they will look just like the WB boxes. Unless UA fancy doing The Killing/Killer's Kiss/Path's of Glory as a LE box of course. Maybe they could cash in on this series by throwing out a LE set of the 3 movies.

I'm confused by the love for the Blowbear ghost. The twins and the old hag are the first things that come to mind when thinking of this films ghosts. They're both creepy and frightening. I usually forget about the Blowbear scene till it pops up.

He's a dude in a bear outfit performing a blowjob. What's not to love!?

We’ve all seen a hundred girl ghosts and creepy old ladies. Blowbear is unique - a fat dude with his buttocks pooching out of the arse-flap in his bear costume, noshing off some old toff in a tux. Casper this ain’t.

OMG how could I forget!? I’ll add him to the list now.

Update: I really struggled between Lloyd and Grady for second place. I’ve put Grady ahead because of WTF dialogue like ‘you’ve always been the caretaker’ and ‘a nig**r cook’, but Lloyd has a quiet charm and I like ‘your money is no good here’. I’d have a drink with Lloyd but Grady is more messed up and I like that in a spectre.
