I just hope that Shout's 4K of HALLOWEEN has THE definitive color timing that matches a 1978 35mm print as closely as possible when shown in theaters.

I was only 11 yrs old when I saw it in the theater in '78, so I have zero recollection of how it looked, but I have vivid memories of the audience screaming and talking back to the screen.

I hope so too and I hope there is no problems with the transfer or discs.

But doesn't Paramount's 49% stake in Miramax include the home video rights to their library?

I think it's very likely that Shout will get to release H6-RZHII in 4K. Cliff basically alluded to as much. He said that doing all 10 movies in 4K at once would be impossible "so they had to split it up." I believe that's an exact quote. So that pretty much guarantees the rest will come at some point. As to when..... I'd guess next year.

I will for sure buy H6.

I'll very likely buy H20.

I will NOT buy HR.

I highly doubt I'll buy the RZ ones.

I'll definitely buy H6 on UHD but will most likely pass on everything after that.

ViacomCBS has the 49% stake, that is the important distinction. Paramount did not buy Miramax. ViacomCBS, the parent company of Paramount, did and as such gives Paramount distribution rights.

Again, Miramax’s leadership remains unchanged so they still control their library. By contrast, Disney merged or eliminated Fox’s leadership teams. Disney took over Fox completely and thus has control over the Fox library, archives, and studio.

If Scream gets them (which remains to be totally indicated as a possibility), I'd get H6 and H20 for sure, Resurrection would be a nice freebie in a 2 for 3 sale though. I can skip RZ's movies.

If 6-8 end up being released from Miramax and Paramount I'll get them all for sure to show them there is an audience for UHDs.

I'd buy all 5 but for various reasons. But H6, RZ's Halloween and Halloween II all need BOTH cuts.

Halloween 6 is one of my favorite sequels...amazing Fall/Halloween atmosphere, creepy vibe, good suspense, brutal kills, best mask since HII and Michael is ruthless. But the Theatrical AND Producer's Cut are a MUST. I'm not sure if the OCN exists for the Producer's Cut, but I assume Shout could re-scan the interpositive and give it an HDR pass?

Halloween H20 is a snoozefest Lifetime movie with the least intimidating Michael in the franchise. I like the first 20 minutes set in Langdon, IL. It looks like Fall, feels like Fall, kids are carving pumpkins, homes are decorated for Halloween "Mr. Sandman" is playing, the H6 mask is used and looks great and I love Nancy Stephens reprising chain smoking Marion and her witty one liners. Her brief face-off with Michael was a highlight. Once she's killed and Michael drives off the movie is all down hill and never recovers. So, I'll enjoy the first 20 minutes then skip to the end credits to hear the original Halloween theme and the excellent "What's This Life For" by Creed.

Halloween Resurrection is also entertaining for the first 20 minutes although Laurie deserved MUCH better. As terrible as the movie is, I love the re-creation of the Myers house and setting the whole movie there. Also there's some decent kills. The Halloween theme and rest of the score by Danny Lux is well done.

RZ's Halloween is a difficult watch up to the point Michael escapes. The theatrical breakout scene is well staged and shot, but the director's cut with the tasteless rape breakout is terrible. So, the theatrical cut needs to be included. Once the movie shifts to a quick-paced retelling of the original Halloween it's a decent watch. Zombie is a good director, but he shouldn't write his own movies.

RZ's Halloween II is my least favorite in the franchise but, again, the first 20 minutes in the hospital are entertaining, brutal and suspenseful. Shame it was only a dream. The characters are all unlikable and I hate hobo Myers. Still the movie has amazing cinematography and good acting from Dourif. Annie's death is really emotional. The Phantom Jam was fun and there's a lot of clever imagery even if it feels misplaced in a Halloween film. The theatrical cut has better pacing and a better ending, so again the theatrical cut needs to be included.

So, with H20, Resurrection and RZ's films being tough watches, I'd still get all 5 and make good use of the chapter search on my remote.

Already own both cuts of 6 of bluray, that mockery of Micheal really doesn’t need a 4K but then again neither does 5.

You're saying the H6 Michael is a mockery?! The T-Cut Michael is my favorite Michael of them all and easily the most badass (well, essentially tied with H4 Michael...but with a better mask).

I totally agree. The first 20 minutes in Langdon are actually pretty great. The movie kinda goes to shit when it cuts to California.

H20 is a mixed bag for me but it's just good enough that I wouldn't mind buying it again in 4K. I'll take it 10 times out of 10 over the godawful trash that is H'18.

- H20 had potential to be really great but they squandered it.

They made Micheal a pedophile rapist, and his own niece at that uke: oh and part of a cult lol definitely not what John Carpenter created.

I'm not gonna lie, everything after part 6 is kind of expendable (Halloween '18 excluded) in my mind, but I am not going to sit here and act like I'm not gonna buy every single one of them on 4K.

I think all 10 films deserve a 4K UHD release. They all have their respective fans and they should have the opportunity to purchase and enjoy them in the highest quality possible.

Yes, and if you don't like a particular film in the series then just don't buy it, I certainly won't be buying Rob Zombie's Halloween II if it comes to UHD.

I'd rather not own the last three, especially the Rob Zombie entries.
