the Geneon is already out....it's the Japanese steelbook version. I think its going to run you about $55 USD if you choose to import it. From what I hear, the quality is superior to both of the versions we American infidels have gotten so far.

I watched the DVD of T2 last night. I am telling you it doesn't matter which blu you get. It is going to be better.

read my posts and check the link and read the review.
Skynet has DNR and EE applied to it and the Geneon is in fantastic shape.
Only expensive.

I'm betting that it'll look great on my setup, the audio is what I'm more interested in anyhow...I think my Amazon pre-order was $~15 so I can stand it to not be the best presentation.

Thank you for your help with this topic. I think many people with questions about all this would appreciate it; I know I do.

That said, do you have any idea how quickly Amazon Japan ships to United States?

Amazon JP ships Fed Ex International. Not sure if they still use DHL. Either way its expensive. Around 20.00. Takes about 2-5 days depending where you live in the US.

At least the dollar is close to the yen now. A few months ago it was lot worse.

JP steelbook has two discs, theatrical and extended cut. Audio is English or Japanese Dolby 5.1 TrueHD. Has a few trailers and some commentary tracks, iirc

I haven't seen the new Skynet edition yet. So I can't compare it to the JP version.

Yikes. So we're looking at somewhere in the $75 area for this Blu-ray then? I may just have to wait until a super-sweet version similar to this Japanese one comes out in the United States, because that is a lot of coin to drop on a single title... especially since I've been complaining that the Bourne trilogy is "too expensive" at ~$60 from familyvideo.com. That sounds like a bargain now.

I thought it had been established that the original Optimum/Studio Canal release of the Director's cut has identical picture to the Geneon disc. If that is the case, you can pick up that disc from amazon.co.uk (3rd party sellers) for only £20.

Unless of course you're one of those people who will pay any ridiculous price for a blu-ray so long as it comes packaged in a steel, er, tin case.

Agreed. I'd say some sort of 20th anniversary package is inevitable, so I'll take the UK version (which actually has a slightly better picture) over the JPN one for the time being and save about $40. I already have the two major DVD versions and all of their bonus content, so a bare-bones blu-ray doesn't bother me. Oh...and I'll see your steelbook and raise you the metal slip case on the ultimate edition DVD.

I'm still purchasing the skynet edition for the interactive features alone. That quiz is going to get it!

Yes it does. Even Kris Deering and Bill Hunt agree.

Compare the two images at DVD Beaver.

Clearly you might need to check in with an appt. at the eye Dr. lol
