I have a Panasonic 42" 720p/1080i plasma and I love it. If I were to get another 42" I wouldn't necessarily get a 1080p set, but at 50" + I definately would as I think it makes a substantial distance. My viewing distance is about 8', so if you have a similar viewing distance than I'd say go for the 1080p.
