For starters, Lionsgate doesn't license, and thanks to their acquisition of Spyglass, they have the two Rob Zombie films. Yes, I know those films are, ahem, polarizing, to say the least, but they're part of the franchise's history, and they shouldn't be left out. Plus, we've now got the David Gordon Green trilogy in the works. I know it's the reason given as to why Child's Play 2 and 3 aren't coming from SF, but I'm not entirely sold on the "Universal won't license out titles from active franchises" reasoning. We wouldn't have gotten a UHD of Tremors from Arrow in that case. But I could see it being valid here. And that's assuming that there won't be more films after Green wraps up his series, which won't happen (as long as there's money to be made, they will keep making films; the series is already a choose-your-own-adventure timeline at this point, what's another reboot?). It's also up in the air about what's going on with Curse, H20 and Resurrection. We haven't seen any Miramax titles get licensed out since Paramount took over the distribution, so we don't really know for sure whether Paramount can license them, or if that's beIN Media Group's call. If it is Paramount's call, then the question becomes whether they'd be willing to license them or not. We've seen other licensing deals Paramount has made dry up (namely with Criterion) as they've been focusing on their own home video releases. And even if they did continue to license out to SF, would that also include UHD rights, which they haven't licensed out thus far. I know that Cliff's comments on that podcast could be interpreted to suggest that they are coming at a later date, and they've already got plenty of extras at their disposal to include, but I won't believe they're coming until they're announced (or a Canadian online retailer leaks it). That said, it does look like all of the previously released extras from the SF box set for these movies (minus the Criterion commentary, the HHG episode and the On Location featurette, all for the first movie, and all of which can be found on other releases outside the box) are all included, and the discs for the Rob Zombie films were basically what were released individually, so if they do eventually release 6, 7 and 8, all their extras would be easily available again. Since we're ranking Halloween movies, I might as well throw my mine up;
1. Halloween (1978) 2. Halloween 5 3. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers 4. Halloween II (1981) 5. Halloween (2018) 6. Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later 7. Halloween III: Season of the Witch 8. Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers 9. Halloween Resurrection 10. Halloween II (2009) 11. Halloween (2007) Yes, I like Halloween 5 enough to put it second to the original. I'm weird I admit it. But really my rankings don't necessarily reflect the overall quality of the film itself, just how much I personally enjoy it and personally, HII-H5 and H20 are all about the same to me quality wise. And it's only H6, Resurrection and the two Zombie films that I find to be really lacking. Objectively speaking Halloween 2018 is the best overall since the original but I haven't had as long to revisit that one (obviously since it's only 3 years old). That one is slowly making it's way up the list so who knows, in 5-6 years it could be #2. |

I remember in the Producer’s Cut commentary Farrands said he was surprised when people started talking about Michael being the father of Jamie’s baby since he didn’t intend for that to be the case. He said he wanted Michael’s evil to be transferred to Jamie which somehow creates the baby in her. Maybe it wasn’t his intention to make Michael the biological father but to me it seems pretty obvious that’s the case in the P-Cut. There’s nothing in the movie that suggests the baby is the result of “evil transference.” And the line “The baby is yours, isn’t it?” doesn’t sound ambiguous to me at all. If the baby was the result of a nonsexual transference of evil, how would Kara even know that? All of this is a bit silly to me no matter which way it’s interpreted. Michael having sex with his niece or transferring his evil to her which results in a supernatural Thorn baby is too much for my tastes. I prefer how the theatrical cut implies that Jamie’s baby was the result of a genetic experiment, most likely using Michael’s DNA since Wynn was trying to harvest evil. That to me is a less ludicrous proposition. |

I'm just here for the people repping RZH2. It's uneven as heck but so ambitious.

I had no idea that the 2018 sequel was as hated around here. I thought it was great. But I'm not a die hard fan of the series beyond the original masterpiece, and didn't care for anything past IV, really.

2018 is by far the best Myers sequel imo, but I also think it's majorly overrated.
