I just don't have confidence that WWE would be able to successfully reschedule in time or fill another arena on such short notice, as he said there's already 10,000 people with tickets.

And this is why we have contracts.

It really doesn't matter which event is more important, it is about who aquired the rights to that space on that date and how much it is going to cost to break a binding contract.

Vince has already won on this deal with the press he'll get, now we'll see how much more he's going to win before its all put to bed.

Well, in typical Vince MacMahon fashion he fired the first salvo.

I half expect that if the Nuggets win out a few "heels" might show up and cause a small scene. Then a few weeks from now after the play-offs are over have a few Nuggets players "return the favor".

See that isn't even the issue, the NHL rescheduled for freakin' Yanni! "Fake wrestling" had the arena booked, what about the disappointed fans who paid for their tickets for Monday Night RAW? I know if I had concert tickets that night and they cancelled the show for this I'd be pissed. If I had Yanni concert tickets though I'd be in much bigger trouble though.

WWE has a contract and 10,000 tickets sold. The Nuggets can play another day.

The game can't be moved to tuesday because thats the cavs-magic day to play. Its not that easy to just move the game to a diffrent day, the NBA just like all the other major sports have a contract with tv stations to get the games in by a certain date and have a certain routine to go about it.

But I suppose I answered my own question, money.
That is where I believe the discussion should end. No judge in their right mind, unless payed off, should overlook this and find in favor of the NBA. If they overlook a contract, this could start a whole new mess of problems with other major companies' contracts being contested for one reason or another.

I'm more of a wrestling fan than I ever will be a basketball fan, but this is not the point. It wouldn't matter if the person that rented out the building wanted to just throw a small birthday party in the middle of the arena, it's been contracted out! That's all that matters. I will be extremely surprised if WWE doesn't win this. I doubt Vince McMahon will punish the fans of Denver by never going back, because he's too smart of a business man not to do something stupid like that. But he definitely won't be a fan of the Denver Nuggets.

The WWE has a TV contract as well, and a signed contract to use the venue on that day.

This is going to be fun to watch.

I would love to see them do the show from the arena's parking lot. How about that, the game spectators will have to park somewhere else to make room for.....a wrestling ring and 10,000+ fans.

it just sucks cause someone is going to get fired for this. how can the nuggets not book the arena all the way til the finals assuming there was 7 games in that too. with the NBA not wanting the 2 series on the same night it seems like the wrestling would be easier to reschedule. maybe the dumb owner of the nuggets could take money out of his pockets to refund fans for paid tickets (WWE will still keep gate profits) and offer to pay for all of their tickets next time a WWE event happens in denver again. Or they could relocate to a nearby arena within 30 minutes, surely Denver is a big city with multiple arenas, right?

That can't happen.

For starters, Vince isn't going to just let them get away with breaking the contract.

Secondly, the article said itself that Vince signed the contract with the venue first, so in most legal proceedings that's the one that would take in legality terms.

Third, I'm guessing from your post that you're a basketball fan, if you're not I apologize, but you seem a little bias towards basketball.

4th, As much as Basketball has contracts with television, so too does Wrestling.

It doesn't matter who generates the most money, WWE probably generates more money than Basketball in a year, and that's just selling the PPV alone.

Plus, it's the matter of who has the contract, and right now Vince has that in his hand. The NBA is buggered in this instance, move the game or be out a $#!+ton of money.

im not a fan or a hater of the nba or wwe. im just curious as everyone else is about this situation and want to see what will happen. i just view it as an event that rarely happens (nuggets in the playoffs this deep) has some sort of precendence over an event that happens every monday of every week for the last 20 years, for the local residence of denver who are affected by this. of course none of that matter in the world of legal matters and contracts.

Well, by that logic of the rarity of the event, I think Toronto gets RAW once a year... so once a year is still less (for the local fan) than the theoretical chance of the Nuggets having a home play-off game, which can actually occur 2 to 12 times a year.

Along with pre-show taping for Superstars, it's approx. 3 hours, but they need all day to set-up their staging and arena seats, not to mention the ring itself.
