Not a rumor. They may release this and Heat and that's very possibly the end of the road.

Disney did abandon plans to do live action catalog in 4K but the level of outcry which even went as far as The Hollywood Reporter seems to have made them re-think it which is fantastic. Getting Speed, Unbreakable and Roger Rabbit out this year is a good sign.

Not sure what the delay is for 'Heat'. I'm also hearing a Pirates of the Caribbean 4K UHD set is in the works too.

I'll take the first Pirates film and that's it for the franchise.

Yep, I just bought 2 and WAV on iTunes and they look pretty good in UHD. Weirdly, the Amazon Prime UHD versions look much worse

But yeah, we need proper discs of the trilogy (4 & 5 don’t count of course).

Good news, but I imagine it's not the Fox team that is working on it, so the level of DNR might be questionable on this one. I mean it does look like crap on Disney Plus...

I love how people do the "I just watch the movie!" dance in one thread then, without a shred of irony, complain that a movie looks like crap in another thread. We all have our limits I guess

What? I can't hear you. You'll have to speak up. It's too noisy in here with all these people complaining.*

*TBH I can't hear because I have a sinus infection and decided to record some music on garageband. Now the right side of my face wants to explode. Ears and all.

Well, you take this Internet life too seriously dude, without a shred of irony yourself

Also, I don’t see a contradiction here - everyone’s a different level of sensitivity to digital tinkering. I don’t see Blade Runner/Alien/Home Alone as badly affected by DNR or compression as Disney’s Star Wars. That’s why I do a “I just watch the movie!” dance over there and I am genuinely afraid of Disney’s level DNR in this thread.

But who said that those titles were affected by "DNR" as much as Star Wars? (For which no-one's mentioned anything negative re:compression AFAIK.) Faults can be pointed out whilst acknowledging the good things, as I did in my review of Home Alone for example. And indeed in my Star Wars review, for that matter (though Empire is another story, ugh).

The fact that you've basically done the old trope of "get a life, ya fackin' dweebs!" and then say "everyone's got a different level of sensitivity to digital tinkering" when justifying your own hang-ups would indicate a breathtaking lack of self awareness, unless you're here just to ruffle a few feathers? Which, from past interactions, would be the most surprising revelation since bears were discovered to shit in the woods. WINKY FACE

I kinda wanted to get into this conversation, but then I said to myself, ohlook, we can go back and forth on this one, until he beats me with so many smart English words, as he usually does, so what’s the point? My English ain’t that good. In fact, of what you said above, I understand less than half of you half as well as you deserve. So… get a life, ya fackin’ dweeb!

Yeah Unbreakable was done by the Disney team, as was Hocus Pocus and the Pirates films. The Fox team that were brought over to Disney did supervise the Roger Rabbit 4K transfer along with the film's producers. But the Fox restoration team has pretty much let go or moved on - there appeared to be differences in opinion as to innovation and how to approach these restorations or transfers.

If we ever see 'Heat', that is a Fox transfer as is Home Alone 2 but everything else going forward from Disney live action be it a Fox or Touchstone film, it's the Disney team doing it.

Yet another reason that Disney sucks, huh. Though I'm sure Fox might have messed up some 4K restorations.
