Just got charged several hours ago for my Evangelion Ultimate Edition from All The Anime. Looks like they're indeed accepting international orders for their Evangelion pre-order listing.

The GKids version sold out before I could get time away from work yesterday, so I pre-ordered the Anime LTD set on my lunch.

They took off VAT when I ordered it so I actually didn't pay extra - even with international shipping, which was nice.

Bingo. That was a bonus for me as well. I would have financed it but I'd rather get that $274 chunk out of the way right now.

For some reason tax wasn’t calculated for me after checkout. Did this happen to anyone else? I’m not complaining, it’s just odd.

It's really that good.

It sucks with complex shows like this when your Japanese isn't good enough so you still need the subtitles but you can understand enough to know that the subtitles are nowhere near expressing the subtleties of what's being said. EVA is really hard for natives, too - I was talking with my coworkers about the new movie and a ton of them said stuff along the lines of "yeah there's so much obscure technical stuff being said, even most Japanese people don't fully understand all the dialogue".

it’s really unfortunate that fly me to the moon could not be licensed internationally. i ended up passing on a pre-order because of it. that song is just as important to me as a cruel angels thesis. i also do not think episode 15 and 21 would have the same impact without it (haven’t witnessed for myself, but i’ve heard the instrumental was removed for the netflix stream) hopefully a future release will have it intact.

No, this happened while I was checking out for the North American release. I was charged $275 + $25 for shipping but no tax. It came to an even $300. Maybe it’s because I did the installment plan through shopPay?

I placed an order on all the anime for $40 less then Gkids even after international shipping to the USA

The uk release only came out to $264 after bank exchange rates

It's not really surprising, as the full-length "AR Rush" / "Animatic" versions of selected episodes really tanked the available disc space on the Platinum singles, not to mention the addition of completely worthless dub-crew bonus features / audio commentaries on selected episodes. If you factor those in, the singles disc count looks like this:

Platinum Vol. 1: 1-5
Platinum Vol. 2: 6-10 + AR Rush version of Episode 9

Platinum Vol. 4: 15-17 + AR Rush of Episode 15 + "That Little Red-Haired Girl" (~6 minutes)
Platinum Vol. 5: 18-20 + AR Rush of Episodes 18-20 + "The Mythology of Evangelion Part 1" (~27 minutes)
Platinum Vol. 6: 21-23 & 21'-23' (DCs) + AR Rush of Episode 23
Platinum Vol. 7: 24-26 & 24' (DC) + AR Rush of Episode 24 & part of 25 + "The Mythology of Evangelion Part 2" (~8 minutes)

In contrast, the thinpak set didn't have any of that cruft which left enough room for a higher overall bitrate for the episodes themselves despite having a lower disc count. It's unfortunate that the clean OP/ED was left off the thinpak set, but those were the only on-disc bonus features on the singles anyhow that had any real value.

But it is just the beginning and the song cuts off before it gets to the iconic Fly Me to the Moon melody. It is like this even in the uncut version.

I definitely got taxed- both city and state, but I paid for the whole thing up front.

From what I remember from previous posts, I think it was said that they couldn't apply the 10% to Eva.
