It shouldn't matter with the PS3 as you should be using a HDMI cable for that, correct? So the PS3 is already sending a digital signal that won't need to be converted by the receiver at all. When watching an old DVD on the PS3, yes the PS3 will upconvert the video and pass it through the receiver to the TV just fine.

Since it doesn't upconvert analog, this just means that if you have a Wii, Xbox 360, or DVR video signal going through the receiver (via component or composite cable), then to the TV, that those signals will be left as is (not upconverted).
