Something I can’t help but love is how when you go on the Amazon US page for the Standard Set, it lists the VSI cast in the product specifications table, but on Amazon Canada’s listing, it lists the ADV cast instead
(And it’s #2 and #1 respectively in the corresponding Movie and TV bestsellers charts) Last edited by Tylerfan; 09-01-2021 at 12:03 AM. |

I wish there was just a "Special Edition" with both dubs without the booklet or art cards. Maybe that'd knock it down to $150. ![]() |

Hmm, I did not anticipate Amazon getting copies of the Standard ed.
Amz.ca has it for pre-order ($51 Cdn) with a significant savings on cost compared to my Shout order. I think I'll keep my Shout order, as at least I know it will arrive well packaged but for those considering saving even more coin, the option is there. As far as the CE goes, they are limiting purchases to 2 per household (only 1 for the LE) so not surprised. Last edited by Gorgon; 09-01-2021 at 01:20 AM. |

^^ I would suggest the "Friday The 13th" scenario was a knee-jerk response to the overwhelming orders Shout received for the Halloween 15-disc sets, for which they were (mysteriously?) unprepared.
I doubt we'll see that situation happen with NGE. |

Episodes 21-24 were changed much more drastically in that they had multiple alterations within individual cuts and entirely new scenes (many repurposed from the 1997 theatrical cut of "Death and Rebirth"). Note that the broadcast version of 21-24 was used as the basis for ADV's previous VHS and pre-"Platinum" DVD releases, while the Japanese "Video Format" versions of 21'-24' were ported to ADV Films' two "Director's Cut" DVDs (i.e. "Resurrection" & "Genesis Reborn") from early 2004 that were released just before the "Platinum" DVDs And now onto the "Renewal" (JP) / "Platinum" DVDs (US) DVDs. Editorially speaking, they are 100% congruous to the content on the Japanese Blu-ray releases except for the obvious quality differences inherent from authoring for use on standard-def DVD as compared to 1080p Blu-ray. So any comparison between the video content (beyond telop replacements and other localization artifacts) of ADV Films' "Perfect Complete" (1-20, 25-26) & "Director's Cut" (21'-24') DVDs versus their "Platinum" DVDs would be valid as applied to the GKIDS Blu-rays. As such, I'll refrain from listing all the changes done between the "Video Format" and "Renewal" versions as they've all been very well documented previously. |
