[QUOTE=jkoffman;18518256]This is probably my favorite concert film and I've been waiting forever for it to be upgraded and reissued. Finally seeing it remastered is going to make my year!

Thanks for providing the song list. That's a definite get. Lots of songs from artists I like. For me it won't surpass most of the jazz concerts I have, but it will be enjoyable and not look like crap like some of my dvds.

Amazon now forecasts my delivery for February 9. So, yay!! Really looking forward to this. Rented it on DVD years ago, and thought it was great.

Are you referring to a post that was deleted or something? I didn't see anyone make that claim.

They didn’t. I was answering my own question.

Well, I was going to wait until street date to order this, because Kino doesn't allow Paypal for pre-orders (which is what I almost always use), but when I saw your comment, I couldn't resist and pre-ordered it anyway! I threw in some Italian and Thai horror movies, and "Tommaso," the latest movie from Abel Ferrara, and rationalized it all by the fact that the size of the order brought me to free shipping, lol! There goes my movie budget for the month, but at least I'm getting the best concert film of all time on Blu-ray, and some other cool movies too!

Amazon just shipped mine. It says Delivered by Tuesday, but it's already in my area, so we'll see tomorrow.

Very excited!

Anyone watched their BD yet? Not sure if this site will do a review and I am interested in what others think after they watch it.

Watched it last night. It looked quite lovely: clear, bright colors, excellent contrast. You're in for a treat!

Brilliant release. It’s almost like you’re there. The artists are wonderful as you’d expect, but it’s also fascinating to people watch, as Bert Sterns camera takes us around the audience. What amazed me is how cool everyone looks! Trendy late 50’s gear, sunglasses, cigarettes (ok not cool but was at the time), attractive people, couples who knew how to dance. This is my favourite release this year so far.

I watched it this weekend. Looked and sounded great. Very enjoyable time capsule of the music festival and surrounding area. If they could find the original film of the full day of concerts it would make an amazing box set. The one to three songs they showed per artist made me wanting more.

They were shooting multi camera on film. It's highly doubtful that much exists in the way of musical performances that isn't in the film. I'm sure they planned in advance what they could afford to shoot.

Would the cost of film have been that high a portion of their overall cost? I actually don't know if the film is only performances from one day, it seems Newport was a 2 day festival then. But even if its one day, paying the crew the whole day would still be necessary. Also, it seems a director would want to film the entire set for a performer then decide later which songs to use. But that's me just doing uneducated guessing, I would appreciate any insights

I watched a very limited screening of this the other day. Loved it!

I noticed the sound had a high amount of hiss and noise, which is not surprising. But was wondering if there is any noise reduction on the KL Blu which could destroy the detail?

Didn't know they are releasing it. That's good news!

I'm guessing it's a straight port of the Kino Lorber.

It won’t have the feature length documentary (also available on an individual DVD with extras), but it does have an exclusive Audio commentary by music journalist Natalie Weiner plus Archival interviews with director Bert Stern, presumably taken from the Kino release.
