The Incredible Hulk isn’t that bad, it’s just not on the same level as Marvel’s best. Still far from an unenjoyable or plain ‘bad’ movie.

I don’t have much skin in the game because I’m not into comics and I own both DCEU and Marvel movies, but I’m currently part way through another rewatch of the marvel series and I’m still impressed by how well they function as one extended narrative and how damn good many of the individual movies in the series are, as well as the fact that (in my opinion) there’s not really a ‘stinker’ in the bunch. How many other studios can say they have not put out a movie which is properly bad in almost 15 years, especially as part of one franchise?

The 3D of course helps sell them even more, but 3D or not they’re some of the best discs in my collection, just pure movie magic for the most part.

They rarely put a foot too far wrong, so far, and considering this movie has 91% on RT and I usually line up with the critics on superhero movies I’m willing to bet this will be great fun. I can’t imagine watching the trailer to this and deciding it will be lame because trailers mean basically nothing, they have the power to make a terrible movie look amazing and the same is very much true in reverse.

Saw this tonight in IMAX 2D. Funny how the theater specifies all movies shown are 2D though they have not shown a 2d movie since a long time before COVID. Maybe had 80 people in theater that holds 400.

This was a very solid, fun movie that would look pretty bangin in 3D, between the ring effects and fight scenes. Highly recommended especially after I was a little disappointed in Black Widow. Has mid credits and post credits scene.

Hopefully someone comes through with a 3D bluray!!!

Went to see the movie tonight but oh man do I have a story.

So the only 3d showing at my cinema was at 10pm which was too late as there were other showings during the weekend but my sister and I wanted to go to the premiere anyways so we had gotten 2d tickets. The trailers ended then the "Put your 3d Glasses on" message came up on screen we were confused and thought it was a mistake but then the movie started and it was definitely 3d. SO I ran out and grabbed 3d glasses for us. I usually wear clip ons for my glasses but I didn't bring any as I assumed we were going to see a 3d movie but the regular theater glasses worked fine. Anyways the movie played for about 5 minutes then the staff paused the movie telling us that they had put the 3d version on by mistake and there was no way to put the 2d version on in that particular screen. So they asked who wanted to stay and watch the 3d version or who wanted to leave and get vouchers for another time. Half the audience walked out and the movie was restarted. My sister and I were ecstatic that we were would get to see the movie in 3d and absolutely loved both the movie and the 3d! We also got free movie vouchers as well. I figured I should post this cause most of the stories on this forum involve people getting a 2d showing instead of 3d not the other way around. I'll be seeing this again a few more times this weekend!

As for the movie itself had great action scenes which weren't chopped to death unlike Snake Eyes and Mortal Kombat. I enjoyed the family drama and humor and I thought the storyline was pretty good and surprisingly small scale though it did end with a massive CGI battle like most MCU films which was also pretty great.

The 3d was top notch as usual from Marvel with great depth shots including a great action scene on the side of a building and plenty of pop-outs including the Ten Rings, swords and knives. It's a step over Black Widow imo. Overall I would recommend this movie and if you can see it in 3d you absolutely should. Hopefully there will be a 3d disc for this! My wallet is wide open Disney!

Half of the audience walked out of a free 3d showing?! That's pretty brutal for the format.

I'm glad that you lucked into seeing this in 3D. BTW, what clip-ons do you normally use?

I use this brand. https://www.amazon.com/Lightest-Comf...s%2C156&sr=1-4

But I only use the Reald3d one as I don't really go to IMAX and not like they are really doing 3d much anymore.I don't see it selling separately on Amazon like when I bought it so you might want to try a different one that's single.

Yeah a lot of people were saying that they paid for a 2d only and thats what they wanted even though the 3d surcharge was waived for obvious reasons. Their loss I guess.

Yet another first-rate conversion from Marvel. The depth is really immersive for the most part, and while some objects either nearly/barely edge out the screen, there's a mid-credit scene with cool pop-outs.

FYI, the post-credit scene is flat 2D.

My local O'Neil's has great screens and seating, but they haven't been showing 3D at all since reopening, so I've gone farther away to AMC and Regal. Even Shang Chi was all scheduled for 2D only.
HOWEVER
I left a message on their local Facebook as well as went in to talk to the employees, and whaddya know, they just revised the showtimes and added 3D for Shang Chi every day, and not soon enough, as it opened just a couple days after.

As for the movie itself, very happy with it. One of Marvel's best, a great engaging story and characters and STRONG 3D, couldn't imagine watching in 2D.

Anyone seeing 3D trailers attached to Shang-Chi in 3D?

It seems like the 3D trailer well has dried up. None of the 3D films I've seen in theaters in 2021 had 3D trailers. Last batch I saw was with Onward in 2020 (which had 3D trailers for Spongebob and Soul).

All the 3D movies I've seen this year have 3D trailers attached, and total trailer length is typically long, 25 to 35 minutes. But Shang Chi only had 10 minutes of previews and none of them 3D.

Ok just back from seeing this.. Overall a fun ride! The 3D had great depth but the room Cinemark put the movie in had audio issues and the one next door had it rented out I guess because the ppl were so loud you could hear the kids screaming. (nothing to do with the 3D but yeah.)

Hopefully this gets a BluRay 3D release so I can give it the attention it deserves at home and enjoy the 3D to the fullest!

At least in the US, there are currently no 3D trailers available.

It's a terrific 3D presentation, as we've come to expect from Marvel. You can tell the stereo conversion team were directed to be generous with the parallax whenever possible; I really felt like I was given my money's worth. Shang-Chi's sister wields a weapon that snaps outside the screen umpteen times - nice pop-outs that made me flinch every time. Some of the slow-motion water effects are amazing in this format. Several vertiginous shots had me clutching the arm-rests (I'm not great with heights). The overall 3D experience added quite a bit to my enjoyment of the film.

To me, it's a good, solid superhero origin movie. The Chinese fantasy elements work well for the most part, the fights are well-staged and exciting, and the cast is decent. The plotting might be predictable and the character dynamics well-worn, but I think it's a nice, spirited introduction to martial arts fantasy cinema, especially for kids. It didn't need the Marvel elements at all; indeed, some of them even hampered it, IMO (jokes falling flat, random cameos, a bizarre supporting turn from
[Show spoiler]Ben Kingsley as Terry Slattery
).

I found the trailers for Shang-Chi pretty bland, but the movie exceeded my expectations. And with the superb 3D, I urge anyone on the fence to give this a whirl on the big screen.

So this didn't pull a Lone Ranger and have the Awkwardfina et al character nag SC incessantly? I'm definitely tired of the "trope" of superheroes being like Inspector Gadget and the girlfriend being like a sassy, snarky take on Penny.

Are the subtitles in this film in 3D?

No it was nothing like that. I get that Awkwafina can be a little grating but there was no obnoxious rivalry between the two. In fact here and Shang Chi got along nicely and had good individual character arcs.
