Mods may move if needed
I've recieved many pm's about me owning hd dvd's along with some other people on this forum. Just because I have a few of them does not mean I'm neutral, I simply want to see the movies I want to in hi def. I want blu ray to hurry up and win so I no longer have to buy any red cases, if a studio releases a movie on both formats I purchase Blu, and Blu only of it(300 was a gift, so thats why I have 2). Blu is where my heart began and is where it will end up, so please enough with the pm's about it. Sorry to rant but it just was getting on my nerves, but lots of you here who know me know that I'm pro blu all the way, sorry to waist your time with this thread. |

If you want blu to hurry up and win, get rid of the red. Simple as that.
Blu-ray could very well win this war in the next 12 months, but people that don't have the patience to wait for a red title to become blu unknowingly prolong the war when they buy into hd-dvd. I love movies too and would love to see all on hi-def, but wouldn't you want to see them on a superior format that really delivers the quality? Me too, so simply refrain from owning both and this war could end before the next holiday season. Just imagine, all future theater releases and every possible movie in existence in beautiful blu!! |

Is there a no zealot zone?
Seriously, you're not accountable to these people. Spend your money how you wish. Lots of people on both players and both game machines (with add-on). Peace! Last edited by CAB; 08-31-2007 at 03:56 AM. Reason: added the "and" |

Since we're confessing in this thread ...
I guess i'm the opposite of you, in the sense that though like you i own both formats, i started out with HD-DVD (just because it came out first) and would have been very happy had BD just faded away so i could just keep buying the red cases. Not because i was emotionally attached to HD-DVD, but just to avoid the hassle of buying another format. But BD's survival, and up until a week ago, seeming inevitable victory, prompted me to get in to BD with a PS3. Ideologically, i am now neutral. I don't care whether a case is red or blue. I buy nothing but used discs and daily scan the amazon blu-ray and HD-DVD stores for the lowest priced discs. This week, that meant buying "shooter" on HD-DVD and "300" on BD. I also don't care who wins the war. In fact, i like the war because it is seemingly driving down player prices and hastening the introduction of titles. Without the competition, we wouldn't be getting these great amazon and wal mart deals, etc. Ok, that's all for now. ![]() Last edited by stephenj; 08-31-2007 at 04:41 AM. |

But I've decided that I will support Blu-ray with every Blu-ray exclusive title that I want to buy and every neutral studio title where the titles are either equal or better than the HD DVD version. Having said that, I cannot deprive myself of universal titles any longer. I think universal will be the last hold out in the war that blu-ray is going to win within a year or two. In the mean time, I'm going to buy a few select titles that I would not be able to get otherwise. Leave the guy alone man. We are all here to support blu-ray whenever possible. The player I bought today may go the way of the laser disc soon but I'm sure I'll be able to unload it on ebay when the time comes. |

As long as you're here in this forum for Blu-ray, then what you do in the privacy of your own home is your own business.
![]() Being neutral and pushing neutral are two very different things. I'm sure you can think of other examples were people fail to see the difference. Gary |

Sorry that your getting personal [private] messages about your own opinions/decisions. Some people can't respect others decisions. Ranting about it in public threads is one thing, but to invade your inbox is quite inappropriate. It's your money, do what you will!
I have been tempted by a few titles on HD-DVD as well, but couldn't convince myself to purchase the player. Ecspecially when the paramount thing happened...but I decided I can wait the 18 months or less. I think most people on here could care less what your stance on the format war is. The simple fact that your here, supporting blu (no matter how big or small) and contribute in some way is good enough for most of us! ![]() Long live Blu! |

Do whatever you want. I don't really consider anyone who has both formats to be a "supporter" but you can certainly say you "favor" Blu-Ray over HD-DVD.
The reason for my logic is you are hurting Blu-Ray whenever you purchase anything HD-DVD. I do not think you can get around that fact. |

I own Both Blu-ray and HDDVD's.
111 BD's and 58 HDDVD's currently. I prefer BD, but I do enjoy most of my HDDVD's. The players and movies are generally better on blu-ray from what I have experienced. I envy the will power of you guys who stay with Blu-ray only. It says alot about your character. I personally cave when it comes to this stuff, not matter how hard core I want to be to one side (trust me I despise the fact I have to own both) But I am too curious to miss out on the HDDVD's. ![]() Those of you Die Hard Blu's...I solute you! |

If I were to buy a new DVD player and bought a bunch of DVDs, I would be supporting SD media over HD media and still putting money in the pockets of Toshiba through DVD royalties. Let's get back to talking about Blu-ray shall we? If you want blu-ray to grow, stop buying DVDs too. |

We are talking about HD discs. He is pointing out he purchases HD-DVD discs. As I said earlier I couldl care less but he isn't a supporter of Blu-Ray. He is helping to create a market for HD-DVD discs. That certainly does not help support Blu-Ray. I agree with DM, "enthusiast" also works. |

I don't care if he purchases BD's or if you purchase crystal figurines. I came here originally as a BD only owner to escape the madness that is AVS and to discuss BD's. Can we discuss BD's now? If you feel the need to apply labels, fill your boots. I for one, am not neutral. I prefer blu-ray and I put my money where my mouth is. |

Blu dock has a point I own both but I suport blu. I have been a member 5 days and have been called a neutral , he wasnt mean just a coment but lets face it there are movies that are not on bluray. For example the orignal Wonka with Gene Wilder that film screams hi def and yet only on hd dvd if it is on both I buy blu but if red is all I can get then that is life and rember the reason we buy movies is to enjoy them first and formost so in our passion lets not cut off our nose to spite our face
