Yeah, have to say the inclusion of Modern Who folks on BtS really, really annoyed me.

But not for me if they use the same terrible computer animation they did for Web of Fear. The worst of that was they put the telesnap reconstruction on disc two so yoiu had to change discs if you wanted to watch it with that instead.

Haven't seen Web of Fear part 3 yet - is it that bad? Yikes.

It really isn't as bad as some people are proclaiming. It's the first attempt at using some new technology, and with improvements this system could be the way to animate the tougher to animate stories (ones with many characters, locations and costumes).

It gets the job done, and I have a clearer understanding of what is actually going on in the episode now.

Indeed. Especially the chap who plays the new Master and I guess his partner was from a spinoff. It was tantamount to watching kids react to 80s music videos. Too reactionary.

I bought Web of Fear digitally a few years back. Must give it a rewatch. Admittedly, The Tomb of the Cybermen & The War Games are my go-to Troughton stories.

I don’t mind seeing people involved with the modern series invoived with extras as long as people involved with the originals are involved as well. By that reckoning there would have been no David Tennant and Phil Collinson commentary on The Five Doctors.

I think it also showed up Sachs Dhawan’s awful portrayal of the Master when he had to watch the best Master.

She was Rani in Sarah Jane Adventures and she also played the scorpion creature in series 12 - the Tesla episode.

For me the problem was the movement was too exagerrated. If they could just tone down the arm waving and head nodding a bit it would be more watchable.

I think the problem is that when Behind the Sofa has cast members from that story or era it can act to jog the memory and you get the odd insight that didn't occur to them or they weren't asked about when doing the documentary interviews. When it's someone like Peter Purves or Wendy Padbury from earlier seasons of classic Who or Peter Davison and Sophie Aldred from later ones you sometimes get an insight into the differences (and similarities) in writing, production and performances between seasons. But when it's just NuWhos it's just a themed episode of Gogglebox.

FWIW, Bonnie used to live up the road from me and she was a genuinely very nice person, albeit with some questionable wardrobe choices (seriously, some of her outfits in the show were positively restrained by comparison). Unfortunately she had the stage mother from Hell.

So people associated with ‘NuWho’ can’t give an insight into the differences (And similarities) in writing, production and performances between the different era’s.

You should have seen her questionable outfit choices when she was in 9 to 5 the Musical. I never expected to see Bonnie Langford like that.

Aaaaannnd,

so much for the non-Chibby thread

Once again, the complainers found a thread to complain in.

Not on the evidence of the ones they've chosen so far. So far it's been more blandly reactive rather than informative, more like watching Gogglebox or an unboxing video. Unless they get more insightful goggleboxers (and Eccleston, Tennant, Smith or Capaldi could be genuinely interesting in terms of character choices) there seems nothing to be gained from watching people who had nothing to do with classic Who watching classic Who and heckling (admiitedly the latter can be a problem with Janet Fielding's contributions).

One over riding problem is that they've almost exclusively gone for actors, who aren't always the most incisive or analytical of breeds. At its best when reuniting former cast members there's a nostalgic cameraderie and retrospection that carries them in a way NuWhoers haven't had time to develop, it would be nice to see more behind the scenes contributors like Hinchcliffe, though ones involved in the recording/filming are obviously getting thin on the ground.

Please stick with the other thread if you can't keep within the classic era.
