Because they couldn't manage to get it on the data side of the blu-ray.

I keep trying to give Shout! money but they refuse to take it. I understand Alone in the Dark is finally dispensing to the various retailers. Does anyone have any information on Kubo and the Two Strings?

I ordered Kubo from Best Buy after Amazon wasn't showing it in-stock and it did ship and USPS has it so they have stock.

Typically Amazon only matches other major retailers and not the label's individual sales, and I personally can't remember an instance of them doing so with Shout specifically.

That is cool. Amazon.ca (Canada) does not price match, according to their policy. They have the following notation effect:

"Price Matching
We strive to maintain low and competitive prices on everything we carry.

We constantly compare Amazon's prices to our competitors' prices to make sure that our prices are as low or lower than all relevant competitors. As a result, we don't offer price matching."

When I want to place an order, I organize everything in a spreadsheet and split my orders between the stores that have the best price available.

Anybody got Dead Space yet? How's the new transfer or the additional footage? I should get my copy either tomorrow or early next week!

My copy came in already and I watched it the other day. This was a blind buy, when Shout announced it I watched the trailer and it looked cool so I bought it. Not sure which footage is new, but the picture quality is good. Nice healthy grainfield. It also has alternative art on the reverse. Overall I enjoyed the movie. I really like Bryan Cranston and he has a good amount of screentime.

Amazon.com doesn't "Price Match" either, but they do match their prices to certain retailers (Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, and maybe a few others). In other words, you can't contact them to match a competitor's price, but they automatically (and inconsistently) adjust their prices to match certain retailer's prices.

Shout has always been great to me as well. I recently ordered two movies from the Shout Select sale. One movie arrived and the other wasn't even mentioned on my invoice. I sent an email asking about my second movie. I got a response twenty minutes later apologizing and my other movie would be sent immediately. I got a confirmation email minutes after that saying my item was on the way

Ok, I see. Amazon.ca doesn't seem to do this in Canada. Some prices are lower, some are not.

I have noticed as you mentioned, that the US retailers are usually around the same competitive price.

I watched it earlier this morning. The transfer looks really good. What additional footage was added though... I haven't a clue. I have seen the movie a couple of times before over the years, but nothing really stood out to me.

It is indeed about 5 minutes longer than the old version (included in SD on the disc). It might possibly be alluded to in the old director's commentary on that.

Thanks! If I remember well, the old shout! double feature dvd (with The Terror within 1) was full screen, so this should be a pretty big upgrade. Hopefully the much better ratio and the better quality (and longer cut) will make me enjoy the movie more than the first time I saw it years ago. I'm pretty excited to revisit it again!

I also have the old SF double feature DVD, which was apparently just sourced from a dated video master. The (SD) version of the film they added to the Blu-ray as a bonus seems to just be a direct port off of that (it's even MPEG-2 encoded).

The new transfer looks a lot better than that though. It's grainy, but the colors are strong and so are the visible details. I'm not sure what aspect ratio the film was originally composed as...but it looked perfectly fine in 1.85:1

I just had my first bad experience with Shout. I ordered the Anne Bancroft boxset in an order and it arrived with all 4 corners of the slip banged in and rattling inside the case from pieces being broken off. The box it came in was in perfect condition so it was packed already damaged.

I e-mailed them and they sent a replacement copy, (with my returning the other), and that was in worst condition with even more rattling inside from broken pieces.

They should not be shipping damaged items like this.

Just got Dead Space. I'm really happy so far with the 3 Corman monster movies that Shout released exclusively to their website.
I still need to get Forbidden World, Galaxy of terror and Humanoids from the deep one day (the steelbooks are just too damn expensive alas).
I love the two Evil Within movies especially! I'm still hoping we'll get one day the first two Watchers movies on blu ray.

I completely forgot I purchase the 'Terror Within' Double Feature a few weeks ago! Your picture just inspired my triple feature for tomorrow pairing them with 'Dead Space'.
