Does this set still have the issues of having a good chance of one or multiple of the discs not working?

I finally made it through the set. Great picture and sound.
![]() My player wouldn't recognize the Season 3 Episode 10 disc, so I'll have to try to track down another player to see if it's the disk or the player (I'm betting the disc). It was great to see the whole series over a week or so rather than the original 8 years. Easier to keep track of what's going on and who is who. I just wish Sansa Stark didn't look so much like Boy George. ![]() ![]() |

I also got through the series sometime in August after binging over a month, near-daily. And I was impressed with the picture. Some of those streams in later seasons watched first time round were obviously so revelatory on these UHD discs. Truly like seeing it fresh and the shadow range of HDR impact even made the plots of 7 and (moreso) 8 more bearable.
Having had up to season 5 only on BD before I looked to wait for 4K releasing, this was a real treat. Highly recommend all seasons, again, including the unfairly maligned as being limited in nature Season 1 source. |

I wasn't planning on rewatching the series for a few years but I think I will be starting it again soon on my new setup. Should be a whole new experience on the 77C1 with Dolby Vision and beefier audio. Last edited by bradnoyes; 10-28-2021 at 08:57 PM. |

I've even learned to live with the stacked discs, since I have yet to be able to find replacement cases from a company that actually ships, LOL... I've been working through (backwards, by season, actually) and watching a few episodes at a time, a couple of nights a week. I'm working through Season 4 now. I just cannot believe how amazing it looks in Dolby Vision. It's just such a gorgeous show - heck, I even enjoyed the trip to Dorne, just getting to look at all the scenery and architecture and detail. It all looks so real, it's almost that 3D feeling like you can reach inside the screen. The closest I have come to feeling that before was a dozen years ago when I first got a Blu-ray player and watched Lost in HD for the first time - where you just marvel at the scenery and just how lush and gorgeous everything is. The only real annoyance with the set is that it defaults to the lossy soundtrack, so each time you fire up a disc you have to set it to Atmos. It makes no sense, because even if you don't have Atmos (like I don't) the Atmos still plays out as Dolby HD 7.1/5.1 depending on your set-up. In any case, I "solved' this but literally putting a sticky note into each season saying "CHANGE THE AUDIO" so I don't forget. That quibble aside, though - I think they look spectacular. I was expecting a slight downgrade as I go backwards, but Season 4 looks as amazing to me as the later seasons. I've sampled the very early stuff, and even that looks impressive - though I'll reserve that judgement until I watch them more actively. In any case, I can honestly say, dollar for dollar, this is the best value for 4K discs I have bought so far (got it on sale/with discounts for around $140). |

Thanks for the feedback! It does sound like it’s worth the upgrade. I took a peek at the season 8 4k that I got on release
And the episodes looked gorgeous. Then dug out season 6 on blu and played that back and although it stilll looked great, you could really see the difference between the two! |

I want to see it again also but it's so emotionally draining, even ending it before Khaleesi's complete descent into Targaryen madness. I'll probably wait till next year to watch it again, also in part so I can catch up on watching other movies and series and play more video games lol.
