Army Of Darkness 4K with Necronomicon replica… that would explain the long delay since it was leaked.

Has anyone who ordered the 4K Halloween movies directly from SF gotten a shipment notice yet? I see BB already had them on the shelves earlier in the week. At this rate, unless they ship them Priority Mail, there doesn't seem much chance of even getting them by the new 10/5 release date.

Anyone order a copy of "Obsession" (from anywhere) in the past 6 months and it came with a slip?

Made with real flesh. That definitely explains the delay.

I’m also waiting for a shipping notification. I received an email on Friday September 24th saying orders would start shipping as early as Monday the 27th. Today is Thursday and still nothing. As long as the parcel arrives in good shape that’s all that matters to me.

And I would add the hope that none of the discs would be scratched, an unfortunate SF flaw in so many of their new discs I've purchased over the past two years.

Since I'm still home recuperating for another few days, AND I finally have enough strength back to feel a bit more like my old self (In other words I can stay awake for a period of time without the need to rest despite not doing much of anything) I decided to jump into my annual 31 Film Halloween Marathon today.

Normally I start my marathon in mid-late September as I watch films usually only on Friday/Saturday nights and need the extra time to get through all 31 but as things were a bit different this year I'm only now kicking things off.

This was/is a big year for my Marathon seeing as it was the 10th anniversary and I had decided to make it Video Nasty Focused. When I started my marathon 10 years ago I wanted it to have a set of concrete rules to help guide my viewing and ensure that every year was different and unique. I won't go into the full write-up, but essentially the bottom line is that I treat each marathon like a film festival and so no films can be re-watched from one year to the next as it's "an honor" to be included during any one year. This of course can create some challenges with the films I choose to watch from one year to the next as I usually try to theme things, but it has definitely kept things fun/interesting from one year to the next.

With this year being Video Nasties themed I wanted to start off the marathon with a film I haven't viewed in a number of years and one that harks back to the early days of Scream Factory...

There's something special about these early Scream Factory releases. The whole horror world felt like open possibilities and the work that went into these early efforts really shows.

The Burning isn't a film that has ever particularly resonated with me all that much. Truth be told I think today's viewing was the most fun I've ever had with the film, but I can see and appreciate why folks would love it and why it's thought of fondly. For me there is just a certain kind of disconnectedness that runs through the film that hampers my enjoyment. I'm not sure if it's the cast, the story, or what, but something about this one just never allowed it to resonate with me as much as so many other slashers of the era. Watching it now however It's mildly amazing to me that it hasn't already seen a remastered 4k UHD as the film is ripe for rediscovery and potentially could show some really great picture improvements. (Not that I have any complaints about this Blu Ray release if I'm being honest. It's an all around awesome disc and one I'm very happy to own).

The menu's, the special features, the extra bit of sparkle that Scream Factory used to put onto these releases is hard to quantify, but The Burning certainly captures all of that magic/wonder from those early days. I know I'm preaching to the choir with this one, but if somehow you've skipped The Burning until now and have never seen it or don't already own it, do yourself a favor and go try to find a decently priced copy. It's quintessential 80's Slasher that's fun, gorey and titilating in all the right ways and strikes the right Nostalgia chords even for folks that weren't alive to watch the film when it was made.

I see you're in Lincoln. Since Nebraska is unwatchable again this year, you can fit in two more movies each Saturday!

I ordered about 3-4 months ago when Amazon had their big SF sale and did not receive a slipcover.

You underestimate my tolerance for bad Husker Football. Admittedly, much of the time is spent with my face in my hands wondering how a team can't kick a football but I keep turning in each week.

I will say that I certainly appreciate 11am games however as it frees up my evening to watch something else and forget about that days events.

Combined with the shipping speeds from last years sale, you'd think they'd have started the sale in July so we could get the titles by October.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't expect them to be delivered in time for Halloween. But hey, at least it gives a bumper in between the Kino sale and this one

Got shipping notification from Bullmoose for Halloween... 1, 3-5.

Was really hoping they'd all ship together. I wonder what the deal with Halloween II is.

My status on Shout's site is still showing as "order taken". I ordered within an hour of the 4K announcement.
