Does anyone know if these new editions are going to be released properly in the UK?

I've noticed the SF artwork for Black Christmas when I've scrolled through my Vudu collection. It doesn't bother me; if I'm in the mood to watch Black Christmas, the artwork used for the case (or the thumbnail, in this case) isn't going to change my mind.

I've met him at conventions as well (including HHW a couple weeks ago). Very nice dude.

Did you assume that SF's releases WEREN'T targeted toward the horror convention crowd that decorate their places with memorabilia? I mean the sub label was officially announced AT ComicCon, and they historically would make their biggest announcements of the year at the convention. Plus, and this is key for a business, people that go to horror conventions (or conventions for any cult fandom, for that matter) typically have money to blow.

Also, I'm sure you're right that they would've used different commissioned art if they only obtained the rights to the first one. But again, for a business, it makes sense that they would be trying to appeal to fans of the entire series, whom are much more likely to buy all five, and have artwork linking all five together.

Casual viewers aren't buying UHD though.

I just mean more casual than someone whose house is filled with horror memorabilia. We have people on these forums saying they haven't bought Halloween since VHS, DVD or Blu-ray who are buying some or all of these. The idea that it's a "new release" which might represent the highest quality version made to date will interest people who haven't revisited the movie in a while.

No longer will H4 fans have to listen to that terrible 5.1 remix that’s missing sound effects, foley, and just has a very lifeless, bland soundscape. I might also get the UHD for H2 since it has the original stereo mix.
I’m more inclined to pick up the first two since they’re my favorites (and my copy of H2 is the ancient 2001 scan). I like H4, but I can live with the current BD for one more year. I hate H5 and am only getting it for completion’s sake (although I am looking forward to watching the deleted footage).

I'm assuming you didn't rent or buy very many VHS tapes, because this is not true. Do you remember the clamshell cases Warner Brothers used for a while? The "cover art" was just a still from the movie itself! Many other companies used alternate artwork or cropped the original art; the VHS cases were usually too small for the theatrical poster art to fit properly.

Um no, most vhs covers from the 80's were the original poster art, they wanted people who had seen the movie in theaters and saw the poster to recognize the art and rent or buy it. It's in the 90's when they started re-releasing the same movies (in widescreen sometimes) that they started having different art. Obviously it wasn't every movies (Dawn and Day of the dead had new art in the 80's and the original artwork for their newer vhs release in the 90's) but for the most part, they were the original posters (from Indy, to Star wars, to Alien, Back to the future, all the Halloween, Friday the 13th, etc.) ALL had the original poster art on their first releases. The second waves didn't.

I know because i still collect vhs to this day and try to hunt them down when i can haha. Mostly horror vhs from the 80's, when 90 percent of them had their original poster art.

I always figured it was because they didn't want to get sued by William Shatner. I mean, they did it once but by the time they were making part 4 it was now common knowledge. I'm sure he could have sued them by then, so they probably figured it would be wiser to go for something else. But I was probably wrong, I guess lol.

Do I think the covers are all wrong for Halloween? Yes, but is it bad art? No. But it's all wrong for Halloween and I will willingly never display them for anyone, ever.
I think it is bad art but would not like to tell him that it's bad. To me this style looks like a high school teen did it.

Well this doesn't sound good for Oppo 203 owners like me.

Technical Note: For some reason, my Oppo 203 wouldn't play this 4K disc directly. I kept getting an "Unknown Disc" error. I had to insert the disc into the player, turn it off, and then upon startup the disc would load. Neither my Samsung player or my PC disc drive had any playback issue.

Does anyone know if the current art has created any playback issues? Asking for a friend.

The art has grown on me and it honestly looks better in person. A darker print that isn't as brightly saturated in comic colors. Season of the Witch is the only artwork that I find the most fitting.

Though my first reaction seeing them revealed was a video game line. And then it made me want a Halloween based video game. Closest we'll get is Michael Myers featured in Dead By Daylight.

Don't worry; as I've posted several times previously, I also have an Oppo 203 and the new 4K Halloween disc has played absolutely fine, with no shenanigans. Halloween II, too.

I thought the exact same thing. I was pretty neutral about them, but once I saw the first two in person, that's when I started to really like them. They printed in darker tones, and with the matte finish look really nice. A lot different when not on a computer or phone screen with blown out brightness.

If you just don't like the art, period, of course it isn't going to change your opinion - but they really do look remarkably more refined in person.
