First look at Rockstar's GTAIII Upgrade, just kidding! This is a PC Mod who worked on this amazing upgrade, and NOT the Rockstar GTA 3 upgrade.

It will cost them a lot of money. The PS3 and the PS4 ports didn’t have the full soundtracks for either games.

The current versions on PS Store appear to be discounted before their removal comes for anybody thinking of grabbing them as they are at present.

Not surprised at the very lest that they are going to remove the old versions. That's ok. I'll still keep playing the reversed engineered versions. What I want to know is, if they will also remove the original PC versions. In that case, I will have to back them up. I was planing on getting these new "remasters" but with all that's going on with them, sorry nope.

Glad I grabbed the original trilogy when it was on sale for $18 a while back. It's good to have just in case Rockstar decides to delete certain "controversial" missions or content. Psycho killer mission from Vice City comes to mind...

[Show spoiler]

Especially with the Haitian quotes and current events. They wont ever bring that back.

These will be on Unreal Engine and edited and improved through that.

Within the next few weeks, was the quote Rockstar said about revealing more about these old titles getting remastered. Hopefully it'll be worth it for those interested.

If I didn't have the originals on PS2 and the remastered PS3 versions for PS5 and PS4, I would definitely get these as a big fan of the original games.

I see no reason why they wouldn’t take the old ones off since they are doing it with PSN.

I can tell you one thing, a lot of people who use mods with the original PC version will be very unhappy if they take it down and if the new PC files will be completely different.

Not to be that guy, but the PS3 and PS4 releases were not remasters in any capacity. They were literally just PS2 code, but slightly tweaked to work on whatever platform. Remasters are when the game code is mastered again, usually with a higher resolution output, but the PS3 and 4 versions still had their overscan borders etc.

Whilst it isn't a remaster, i do believe they did tweak the resolution a little to make it run a bit higher. The main draw however possibly is that it may be one of the few ways you can get the current version as it is, because i'm sure they will have potentially cut content on the remasters which would 100% suck if true but even more so if it is falling into self censorship with the actual content of any of the story, missions etc.

The ps3 was technically a “remaster” albeit a bad one

the ps4 was the ps2 version with higher resolution

Truly pathetic that they caved in to that.

This article has me worried...

Hopefully it's not true or was taken out of context.

I haven't watched Family Guy on TV in awhile, but that show pokes fun of everything and continues going, so I don't see why GTA can't do it too since they are leaders at being controversial with humor.

I believe it. It's still a better version visually than my PS2 GTAs, and looks much sharper because of it. No blurry, dim, muddy looking graphics thankfully like they can be on PS2.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how that goes. Rockstar should stay edgy because the games are all about humor and poking fun at everything. That's their style so there's no reason for Rockstar to not offend very sensitive people anymore.

If they sanitize their games, then they might as well remove the whole game.

So far we’ve only been told it will be digital only.
