If the trailer debuts in theaters with the 25th anniversary on October 10, any chance they put the trailer on the physical 4K release? I wonder how far in advance of the date the trailer was completed and when the discs were pressed.

I might actually go see the Fathom Event after all just to see the new 4K master on the big screen. It won’t be nearly as fun as the time I saw it in theaters with a couple hundred other people (who were VERY enthusiastic about it), but it should look a million times better if it’s sourced from a real DCP. The first screening I went to had a DCP of the old master, and it looked about as good as you would expect blown up on a huge screen.
I’ll go on the second day. If anyone here can tip off from the first day, that would be great. The biggest clue that it’s sourced from Dish Network instead of a DCP is if the Fathom Events logo with music plays after the credits. If it’s from a DCP, the screen will go blank and the lights will come up like a regular movie when the event is over. |

Yup, stay til after the credits. Of course, it should be pretty obvious before that point too. A real DCP will have picture/sound comparable to other contemporary theatrical releases. Dish Network will be more pixilated with somewhat quiet sound. But the Fathom logo at the end would definitely confirm it. If it just sits there with jazzy music playing, it’s sadly Dish Network.

What is with the quiet audio in "Dish Streamed" content in theaters? I saw a double feature a few years ago of Sweet Sixteen and The Convent, which Bloody-disgusting(I think) was hosting via Fathom. And the audio was terribly quiet which was disapointing. |
