The Christian studio called VIDANGEL Productions is having issues getting both the Blu-ray version and the DVD version released on the market (For season two). The discs keep getting delayed. These discs are still not shipping, however maybe under ideal conditions they might meet the October 20th 2021 release date unless the release is delayed until November or December or possible early next year sometime (that is if its released at all).

According to the Christianbook website the Blu-ray well not be released until October 20th 2021.

The main website used by VIDANGEL is still showing a pre-order condition for both the Blu-ray and DVD along with the website changing the release date from September to October. Therefore, my point is these discs are not shipping and no one owns a copy on Blu-ray and DVD yet since season two has not been released yet.

There is an estimated 2.2 billion Christians in the world. I was raised as a Christian growing up. I have been collecting Christian and faith-based movies for over 3 decades. I remember buying Jesus of Nazareth on BETAMAX videotape in the late 80’s or early 90’s since that title was never released on Laserdisc (but did see a DVD and Blu-ray release many years later). I also purchased many Christian and faith-based movies in the 90’s on the Laserdisc format which was the best quality format in existence at the time. Laserdisc existed between the years 1978 to 2000+. However, when the DVD format came out in 1997, the better quality DVD format became so popular that it replaced the Laserdisc format in the year 2000 (3 short years it took for DVD to end the release of new Laserdiscs), and replaced all videotape formats around 2006 including D-VHS and standard VHS. I started collecting a massive amount of both Christian and secular movie titles on the DVD format 20+ years ago. In 2006 when the better quality Blu-ray format came out I started to slowly replace many of my secular and faith based DVD’s with Blu-ray discs. I did the same when the ultimate reference quality 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format came out in 2016.

At the Blu-ray.com website I have volunteered my time over the last 10 years and have written over 200 user reviews for both faith based and Christian Blu-ray titles.

However, in recent years I noticed that there is a lack of demand for new release faith-based Blu-ray discs especially Christian Blu-ray discs. The culture is changing and people are less interested in Christian and faith-based Blu-ray discs. Even many Christian DVD’s that were released around 20 years ago are not even being re-released on the DVD format because of lack of demand (many titles remain out of print on DVD, with no new DVD or Blu-ray release scheduled). Yes, its true that streaming is more popular then both DVD and Blu-ray, and some Christian studios and ministries are getting away from all optical media and moving to mainly streaming. Some ministries still release a small amount of DVD titles but the major Christian and secular studios are not re-releasing a lot of classic faith based movies because of lack of demand. Finding faith-based titles on secular streaming websites is also sometimes difficult. The Christian community does have its dedicated streaming websites for both Christian movies and faith-based movies, but many people prefer secular Blu-ray discs by the massive evidence of new 4K Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray titles being released for the mainstream consumers (both religious and non-religious people buy secular Blu-ray discs).

My point is this is Blu-ray.com and if people want me to write user reviews for faith based and Christian Blu-ray titles then I well only be able to do so if there is enough demand to release those types of movies.

One major problem is there is not enough communication occurring regarding new releases, especially for faith based titles. For example, I had no idea that the mini-series documentary The Days of Noah was released on the Blu-ray format on July 1st 2019 until by accident I came across the title in the Blu-ray.com database around 48 hours ago. There are several thousands of Blu-ray titles in the Blu-ray.com database.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-D...lu-ray/244369/

If I would have known about the title being released on Blu-ray I would have purchased this Old Testament faith based movie back on July 1st 2019. To make matters worse this Blu-ray title now is out of print and cannot be purchased anywhere because of lack of demand. The Old Testament Genesis record is the foundation of all scriptures including the New Testament historical record (Jesus read and quoted from the Torah when he walked the earth).

Also, while some new release secular titles see 45% Blu-ray market share and 55% DVD market share. The demand for Blu-ray titles in the Christian community is more like 20% for the Blu-ray and 80% for the DVD (A larger percentage of the younger generation with PS4 and XBOX systems are more into Blu-ray discs when compared to the older generation that does more DVD watching when they are not streaming). I asked the distributor of the Blu-ray, why the Blu-ray was pulled off the market and I received the following email reply:

Quote

““When Days of Noah was released in 2019 it was available in both standard DVD and Blu-Ray format. However, duplication costs to make Blu-ray was much higher then DVD and the demand for Blu-ray was only a small percentage of customers. Thus we decided to discontinue the Blu-ray option when our stock sold out."

"We do not plan at this time to produce more Blu-ray as demand was too low. We will continue to have the DVDs available for purchase!”
