Ok for somebody who is not going to read 57 pages of this…

If I currently do not own Inglorious Basterds in any format, would you advise buying the Blu ray or the 4K UHD

You know what the perfect cheap response is to this predictable cheap statement?

Do it yourself then. Fund it, work on it, bring it to us so we can complain nonstop about how you didn't do enough.

Please.

I'm excited to get it tomorrow and if it's an adequate 4k then it might as well be golden. Try caring about the movie.

I'm all for draconian insertion from moderation regarding naming protocol. It makes it look more included in the thread tree.

And whatever thing you might be putting extra in the title could just go in the OP... Including boutique labels is the one obvious exception to this stance that I agree with

So Kill Bill is 2K DI too. I'll be keeping my expectations in check (don't remember any early 00s DIs looking great on 4K).

The review is up on HTF:

Video: 5/5
3D Rating: NA
Inglourious Basterds appears on 4K UHD in its original 2.39:1 theatrical screen aspect ratio. Film grain appears minimal, but this does not seem to be the result of electronic scrubbing, since fine detail appears consistently intact. The HDR in this presentation serves the color scheme extremely well.
Audio: 4.5/5
Inglourious Basterds defaults to the English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Directional audio is used selectively but effectively throughout the film, with sound effects never intruding on dialogue. The film score consists primarily of compositions created by Ennio Morricone, with some musical selections from the likes of Dimitri Tiomkin and David Bowie.

Damn, it is sickening that 99% of the comments of FAH video are "thanks buddy you saved me some cash", or "I'll gladly be skipping this release, thanks again Jeff you are super"

As FAH says the older BD is "superior". Misleading much??
Blind leading the blin.... I've come to the conclusion that FAH isn't the problem it is his dinosaur brain followers.

Shows you how things vary though, you've got people like Bill Hunt saying it's uber grainy, while the HTF says it's "minimal". Then there's that HDmoviesource buffoon and his obsession with edge enhancement.

This is why I keep saying reviews are completely worthless these days. But if they're gonna keep on doing it I'm gonna keep on doing it, and between us we might strike it lucky and actually hit upon what it DOES actually look like

Yes, if you want to own the film, go with the 4K. (Assuming you have a decent display)

I love the movie & I still have the DVD copy.

I'm upgrading to 4K... (it comes with BD + digital) so whatever the quality of each it'll look better than the DVD.

Kill Bill has A LOT of room for improvement on UHD despite being a 2K DI. That older Blu-ray is showing its age in multiple ways.
