Rewatched The Martian. Very good movie. 3D is good but not great. This is a tough pick over the 4K that has the Atmos track and a great picture.

Edit: Not that tough 3D wins! I've watched at least 10 times still get nervous when they pick him up.

watched Terminator: Genisys last night. really loved it. almost got sliced in half by the liquid terminator. dang.

on another note, is there a place where I can check which 3D blu-ray has which case version ? there's so many different variation, that before ordering replacement case, I'll need to know which one to buy. Pirates band of misfits for example has a clear case just like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. you can DM or simply point me in the right direction.

Just watched again Wolf Totem.

A beautifully filmed and, in my opinion, epic drama focusing on a young student's coming of age learning about Mongolian spiritual beliefs between man and nature and rising industrial exploitation during the Chinese cultural revolution.

The 3D captures a stunning array of visuals depicting the Mongolian terrain as it changes from early sunrise through deep winter sunlight to the pitch black of night.

The depth is more limited when focused on the long range panoramic vistas compared to what the more close up scenes have instead. But don't get me wrong. This has to be seen in 3D to fully appreciate all the wonderful photography Wolf Totem captures and the drama behind it.

So would highly recommend this Chinese production directed by France's Jean-Jacques Annaud. The subtitles are easy to follow and the audio is spacious.

A great movie with excellent 3D. A Chinese Dances with Wolves.
