My current projector is a mid tier model that has brighter revisions. However, they achieve this extra brightness at the expense of colour accuracy. In a completely blacked out and light controlled room, I can squeeze the most out of it's modest HDR capabilities. Whenever I comment about a transfer on these forums, I always preface my post with what I'm working with. There will always be a tradeoff. Even as backlit displays close the gap with respect to size, I have always preferred the "look" of a front projected image. I've been wowed at trade shows by all the colourful display footage they use to show off OLED technology, and if most of my viewing was digitally shot zoomed in footage of bees pollenating colourful flowers, or rain drops cascading on stained glass then I would go that route. I know that many of the Whizz bang "features" of the tech can be thankfully disabled to achieve a more "filmlike" and less digital look. I recently had free rein of a local electronics shop while having the head unit replaced in my car. I didn't have any of my test discs or filters with me, but it was mid week and the guys in the store let me loose on a few TVs from Samsung, Sony and the other usual suspects. I'm not a technician by any stretch, but after a few simple adjustments, I think I impressed a few guys there with how much better an image one can achieve by straying from the eye searing contrast levels and motion enhanced garbage that sells todays displays. Of course there will always be that guy that likes his movies to look like a video game and thinks that black crush is inky black. I know that's not anyone here. Even with the acknowledged shortcomings of front projectors, I have never seen a TV that I would prefer to have in my home theater. While I watch all types of movies, my preferred titles are older, shot on film and very rarely require colours that "pop". I'm apparently not all that sensitive to compression artifacts. I am sensitive to frame rate anomalies and it floored me that some of the TVs I played with seemingly had no way to turn off frame rate interpolation completely ( at least not in the user accessible menu). That night, when I sat down to watch this latest Halloween disc, the experience, the WHOLE experience, was exactly the one I have sought to cultivate in my home theater. From the sound (yes blasphemous ATMOS) to the image that takes up my entire field of view, the experience is cinematic, film like and not digital. ![]() |

Glad to know the color isn't off on my tv. My OCD is driving me nuts this week (more than usual.) I hope the green sign is just from the leaves reflecting off of the metal and not an error. Everything else looks so good. The sign is actually a nice foreshadowing.

Tarantino is my god, but listening to him speak, I think I might have to punch him in the face if I spent too much time with him. |

Well I'm no video/audio expert and I have not seen the previous LG disc. HDR10 is what I currently have and I thought it looked like I owned a film print. Does it look like it was filmed yesterday? No. But it felt more organic than ever before.
I have a 65inch Samsung hanging on the wall and at one point (after a wine refill) I sat on the floor and imagined I was in a movie theater in 1978. I sat in movie nerd bliss because it looked and sounded (mono) so good to me. Next year I'll do the Atmos track. I had never heard the mono so I chose that this time around. Again I don't have DV so maybe I don't know what I'm missing. But to me this was perfection. If you're on the fence and you love this movie then don't listen to the naysayers, I have no idea what their problem is. |

This, listening to most artists talk is terrible, though I do enjoy Carpenter's Vampires commentary. If I listen to James Cameron for even 5 minutes he makes me not want to watch any of his films ever again. I do think Tarantino is a funny guy, though, I love that video of him being followed by paparazzi out of the coffee shop and he goes apeshit on them, seems like he'd be a loyal guy.

Does anyone know if the Deluxe Box from Shout! will have the same UPC 4K movie? It makes it look as if the vinyl and movie are both inside a black box.
My plan is to buy this from Best Buy, watch it and keep it. Then return the other one (that is hopefully sealed) in it's place and place the opened one in the box or however they configure it. Shout! really f*cked this release up. They should have ordered these way ahead of time so they could have gotten them shipped last week instead of who knows when. I'm going to have to buy the movie seperately in order to watch it in time for the sequel to Halloween 2018. It's like your bonus extra for ordering the Deluxe Box Set is a 2 week delay past the release of a new film in the franchise. Between this and the sh*tty audio on Sleepaway Camp that they never mentioned to us or got back to me about, this company doesn't really Scream! quality. Next time I'm going straight through other retailers. Apparently you don't get anything except issues when ordering through them directly. EDIT: To answer my own question, the Deluxe versions are indeed sealed and the same as the standalone releases. Last edited by TheHighRoller; 10-13-2021 at 03:53 AM. |

Been debating about getting this. Reading review after review, so I ask the people!! How much better is this transfer then the halloween boxset bluray? I only hesitate because I've bought this movie about 20 times already lol but yeah if it's a slight upgrade then I'll pass.. if it's night and day. It's mine!
