Having only played and lost interest in Saints Row 1, Gat Out of Hell and President's Run (or whatever it's called), I've never felt attached to the Saint's Row brand, but I can understand the frustration and disappointment many fans are feeling from the drastic change to the main characters of the game.

Maybe Volition will finally listen to the fans and allow a wider choice of your main characters to play as.

I drove through New Mexico around 10 years ago. Didn’t drive through the city, stayed on the highway. Anyway it’s a cool looking place.

That's cool you got to see that area. I imagine that's where this game is based on for the location.

While driving out far west many years ago, I drove 100 miles through these giant red cliff rocks of Utah/Arizona and didn't spot a gas station for stretches of close to 100 miles. I can only imagine running out of gas or breaking down in the desert would be critical for staying cool and having water.

This game will apparently let the player explore beyond the city into the desert, which is interesting if there are things to see out there. In Cyberclunk, there are a few minor things to see or go to, but it's still nice to have a place to drive and explore beyond the city.

The comedy of the game largely revolved around funny costumes and having a dildo for a weapon, based on my extremely limited knowledge of the series, so its nothing really I'd miss.

It was a fun series that went a little too off the rails.

I'm super excited to see where this one goes, and I'll probably be getting it day one

Take away all the details of a building, and it's just a big rectangle to drive around. Unless the developer makes it interactive. Like Watch Dogs Legion does with climbing buildings and rooftops, and Spider-Man games allowing you can climb them.

Saint's Row's open city will hopefully be more than just big blocks to drive around like so many open city games. Put ladders on each building so you can jump off. Or elevators to put motorcycles onto. Do something over the top since it's supposed to be an over the top series.

Very nice open world with lots to explore and I like the more realistic graphics for this new Watch Dogs game. I mean Saints Row.

In terms of exploring the open world, this looks great.

Am now avoiding videos like gameinformer because they are entering gameplay mechanics spoilers for Saints.

Oh well.. a few less surprises. Game still looks to be a nice leap above previous games from a tech perspective.

Yes, Game informer said the game will have

[Show spoiler]Wing Suits, so the character will be able to glide from tall heights

. That's really cool IMO that this game will offer that with 3rd person like Just Cause 3 and Far Cry 5/6 but in FPV.

With no GTAVI in sight, the open world and action in this game looks like it can fill the spot in 2022. Release date is February but there's little chance that will hold up. The previews they showed said the game is still in pre-alpha, where Beta is the final phase before launch. So it's not even close to complete probably. I'd guess June or July 2022.

Hopefully there's a cutscene skip button just in case the story is lame. Get back to the gameplay faster.

Agreed. With Rockstar not releasing GTA VI it gives other publishers the opportunity to fill the gap.

I'd say a new Just Cause would be awesome too though I feel the second is still the best to date.

Just Cause 1 was really good, and part 2 refined things even better, I agree. The giant scale of the maps were unreal in those games.

Are they working on Just Cause 5? I played JC3 on PS4 and the vehicle controls are fine for 4 wheels, but the motorcycles control like tanks and have busted controls. They should take notes from GTA:SA, the bikes control awesome in that game. Better than GTAV.

I hope the vehicles control well in this new game.

They said you can customize and change the outfits of the characters so that's good compared to their default outfits IMO.

The graphics here look generally very good. The gameplay looks decent but nothing too new. I like the lady on top of the car firing at enemies. That's different but not too smart on her part. She could slide right off if it was real-life, but it's just a game so she sticks to the roof like glue.

As expected, delayed from February 2022 to late August 23, 2022. Actually a smart move considering the heavy hitters of February (that might also get delayed). Horizon 2, Elden Ring, etc.

EDIT: My interest level in this game has dropped from 6/10 to about 2/10. I think I'll probably wait for a sale down the road unless there is some new feature that would be must have right away. I'm not seeing it. 59.99 for a new PS5 game is fair, but Volition games tend to be a bit rough around the edges/worth waiting for a discount price from my time with the prior Saint's Rows games and Agents of Mayhem, etc.

Saints Row: The First 15 Minutes of Gameplay | Comic Con 2022 - YouTube

Usually the first 15 minutes are set in a linear path before the map unlocks to explore.

I was able to create my own character (which forced being connected online) in that Boss Factory (which was unlisted but in the ... list in the main Saints Row game page), and only had 2 save files, which were kind of glitchy.

The options to create your own character were decent, but nothing great and at times, confusing as heck with how you could have a jacket, but not a chain necklace on the character at the same time... Then the save file seemed broken, and I had to re-create my character twice by time I was able to eliminate the 2nd save file to create a 2nd "Boss" save character file to select from.

That's cool you create your own character, but I played prior Volition games, and they're almost always a "Wait for a sale" type of games IMO.

The games for PS5 have been sparse, but I'll see what happens with this one. If you can change all the 4 main characters instead of just the 1, that would be ideal and way more interesting.

Didn’t watch that IGN video above obviously.

I did see other influencers share their 4hour hands on impressions though.

From what I gather, game looks like fun however some pointed out some strange things kinda missing from the game like driving a vehicle for example.. there is only 1 camera option.. which is “far behind” view.

It looks like camera is closer to your character than previous Saints games.

What I see that I’m not a fan is the simplistic health bars & general UI looks very generic.

Other than that, I’m looking forward to the game. Already created my boss.
