Default What do we have here - Design Engineers ?

Though my presence here on the Blu-Ray Forum is in its infancy, compared to some of you veterans, I'd like to comment upon how many who make comments or share their opinions are belittled by the veterans. It appears to me that "all this" is opinions from outsiders, unless you can usher forward your credentials as being intricately involved with the design, manufacture, marketing and sales, and the distribution of these two types of formats and merchandise.

I do value some of your insights and appreciate all this intellect, but please back off on the newer forum members, unless you simply enjoy talking to yourself, which will be the end result of belittlement of others. JUST MY OPINION! Now, as Clint Eastwood would say "Go ahead, make my day" . I however have strong shoulders. Fire away !!!!

Either you've hit reply to the wrong thread, wrong forum, or you have some self confidence issues that we are not aware of. Jim, I'm not a Veteran of this Board, but if i do say so myself, I feal in the short time i've been here i've established myself here as fair & honest and I generally only Quote fact i've read. If i have an opinion on something, i always follow it with IMO which in forum terminology stands for In My Opinion.

I'd be more than willing to help you if you have some questions that you need answering but don't want to feal "be-littled" just hit me with a PM or on one of my chat clients under my name.

Thanks,
Brian

Also this and My reply belong in the Feedback forum,

Hi Brian,
I don't have a self confidence issue. I hope we all want to encourage participation here in the Forum, regardless of their level of expertise. I do gain a perspective from the members that I don't get directly from Sony and find it refreshing. I take all this Forum chat with a grain of salt. I see this forum as intellectual entertainment, nothing more. What difference has anyone here on the Forum made to influence or change the direction of Sony, or any of the other manufacturers. They will all stick to their vision regardless of our chatter, positive or negative. Yes, some of the contributors have been totally uninformed, not 'really' knowing what's going on, but their contribution is none-the-less welcome. We just need to be more sensative in how we respond to them, agreed ?

Jim, I would tend to agree that many people forget the old saying: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

I find that with most forums you will run into this, but quite often it is from a very select few people that cause trouble. A decent moderator is who you should contact if you have issues with a specific person, especially if you are being personally attacked.

On the other hand, I view forums as an excellent place for people to express their ideas and opinions. Sometimes those opinions will be in direct contrast to what you believe, and sometimes those opinions will directly attack your opinions... but they should never attack you. I find that typically things here are a good deal better than they are at a place like AVSForum where there is a ton of HD-DVD support, yet it is all insults and failure to acknowledge that Blu-ray has a fair bit yet to reveal. So, I read the posts and grumble to myself... and occassionally feel forced to respond to some absurd lie made by a HD-DVD fanboi.

But newbies have a bit of responsibility. They should do some reading to educate themselves most of all. There is just a ton of good information on this site and others that is worth reading before starting up a silly topic that has been answered already on page 2 - but was to much 'effort' for a person to look for.

I think the BEST example of one of the worst topics is the one on 'Where can I buy Blu-ray stock?" In which the topic already says that you can't get it, and it still gets responses asking where they can get it.

Absolutely agreed 100%. I was just concerned as to why you chose that thread to initiate this discussion. But i'm glad you got it off your chest and it got moved to the appropriate area. Anyways...as i said before my door is always open.

Thanks,

Jim,

I agree with your comments and am sorry you've been made to feel belittled. Please feel free to use the "Report post" icon or PM me if you encounter any further problems. I'm here to help.

Some of us may forget that at one point we were new to Blu-ray technology as well.

But also remeber that stupid questions = stupid answers.

To get better answers, ask intelegent questions. Such as "What make a Blue laser better than a Red laser?" it's a total nooby question, though I would doubt anyone would be little you for that.

I was always told while growing up that the only stupid question is the one that's unasked.

Reading some of your recent PS3 posts, I think you should think carefully about what you post, it doesn't look very intelligent at all.

Who is this directed at? Please be more careful about the words you write as they don't exactly put you in the best light.

Use the "report to mod" option if you have an issue with a particular post or member. - nyg

The funny things about these forums is with in two weeks to a month everything changes, ie the codecs, for the longest time people would bash MPEG 2 and how bad it was. Now it is avs and yes they do sound really stupid I will give you that one. The only difference here is that most of the time people are either more clever in how they comeback with the answer to a "stupid question" or how they handle it.
On the other hand most of the time when some one is "belittled" it is usally because something was misread, mistyped or put in the wrong words. There is a way to put you opion out there and make it a little less harsh. For instance saying "triple layer hd dvds whats the frigin piont. What a waste of money." YOu can say the same thing by saying "Triple layer HD DVD's, now my toshiba player is 3 time more likely to fail." Same message, different results. Or "Sony's PS3 hype is all bs, it isn't going to help one bit because they arn't going to hit that 3 million mark" You could say "Wow I am going to have to beat up and rob some 12 year old to get my PS3." Same message. Just refraise you words a little more and I am sure you won't be belittled as much.
The other thing is some how things always seem to get off topic here. Like I just did to prove a point. Don't take things to seriously and try to refraise what you type.

Default I regret my initial post on this subject

Now, having been very active and reactive on this Forum, getting better acquanted with the majority of the Forum members, their thought processes, their posts, I now regret posting my initial reaction regarding my 'feelings' about other members comments about other members. This has seemed to have deminshed, which I am thankful. I may have just been to sensative, immature, not a intellictual as others, or whatever reason you'd label me. I do so much enjot the dialogue going on here, much has substance, some is speculative and fanciful, but that's OK, we all gain a greater insight and understanding into this wonderful segment of technology - Home Entertainment Products. As I share with my customers, of all the purchases that you make, this, your home entertainment, should be the most fun and enjoyable, even though your spending significant money for these toys! .

So, what's my bottom line here ? KEEP IT FUN !

You've gotta admit though - one of the most fun things to do is belittle the noobs!

At what point does one graduate out of that catagory ? When we post something that has substance and content ? When we agree more than we disagree ? Gee . . . what are the member catagories anyway ? Maybe our moderator can enlighten us ! I want to be a "Super (Special) Member"

Actually, all this is just in jest !!!
