It is shocking that's its like what yr now 2021 & there's still such a small amount of live 4k content.

I guess will just continue to use the "but the cameras and equipment are super expensive" excuse for a trillion dollar industry.

All the NFL would need to do is make it a requirement for broadcasting rights, no 4k, no contract! I believe this is the 3rd season going with the same amount of games broadcasted in uhd 4k, 0 expansion of it which blows!

Same gores for audio. I still get plain ol' 2-channel PCM on a lot of stations/channels (NFL Network, CBS, and Fox included). I realize it's also about the majority of people simply don't care, but sill, basic Dolby Digital 2.0 has been around longer than a lot of members on this site have been alive.

I would think that for a live broadcast, LPCM 2-channel is the best option?

Just set your receiver to Dolby Surround or Dolby Digital 5.1 if you want simulated surround.

Make sure to crank it up so you can hear “GREEN NINETEEN” nice and loud.

I just wish they'd stop talking about it on The Worldwide Leader in Sports - Gruden resigned like a week ago.

Oh for sure I prefer PCM f I want to keep it in stereo. But stereo to multi-channel post processing with DSU has always sounded more spacious to my ears with DD 2.0 over PCM, especially with my last 3 AVRs/processors. Guessing it has to do with metadata?

But I don't mean that as as a complaint. DSU with PCM still sounds great, in which case I'm listening to exactly that and have it cranked up a bit right now for those green nineteens.

Editt: Side note, I've been using Neural:X more and more for PCM if I'm streaming a movie that isn't in multi-channel audio. I think I like it more than DSU. Same goes for DTS-HD MA.

So that Agholor in-stride drop in OT DID do the Pats in, go figure.

Hell of a game, though, not gonna lie.

Pretty much everything on DTV is DD 5.1 these days unless it's some obscure ass channel.

That was true when I had Spectrum, but I jumped ship earlier this year and did the streaming thing. In which case, NFL Sunday Ticket streaming service is PCM 2.0, but it sounds like low bit-rate transcoding. I suspect I have AT&T to blame for that? But again, no real complaints, any football is always better than no football.

And speaking of Sunday Ticket, I missed the apparently wild Cowboys game and tuned in to the Raiders/Broncos instead. But at least I have all week to re-watch, although I'm it'll get a replay on NFL Network.

I’ve never had DTV. Do they actually broadcast live sports in surround sound?

Couldn’t imagine how difficult that would be to engineer.

I actually wondered about this myself and could never find an answer. My guess is, the service or maybe even the DTV is using a real-time encoder, perhaps something like Dolby Digital Live. So it technically wouldn't be an end-to-end 5.1 broadcast (which I don't think any sports broadcasters have implemented), just more post processing/DSP type of thing.

Might be? They better get healthy for the play-offs. They won't be able to beat Dak or A-Rod in the play-offs with their secondary as-is.

Won’t matter if Brady gets the ball last.
