The JVC will have better blacks/contrast and better HDR tone mapping which is truly frame-by-frame dynamic. It should have at least 3-4 times as much native contrast before factoring in its laser dimming.

This Sony is really for people who need A LOT of lumens because they have truly gigantic screens and/or have a room with ambient light.

But the JVC will look better in rooms where its lumens are sufficient; primarily relatively smaller screens especially in dark rooms/black pits.

I would prefer the JVC in my room over the Sony as I don't need 10,000 lumens.

Any projector under $100,000 looks like a bargain to the average consumer after one looks at the reference Christie Eclipse 25,000 lumens and Barco Thor+ 32,000 lumens with native 4K DLP light engines for around $500,000+ once one purchases the lens. These DLP projectors have absolute black levels and are reference quality to anything else on the market. However, they only do HDR10 and a firmware update would be needed in order to do HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR.

The big advantage of the JVC when compared to the Sony, is the exclusive HDR10+ feature on the JVC and the bargain price of only $25,000. Some people are placing projectors in rooms where sunlight is during the day and they need 32,000 lumens, others need 32,000 lumens since their home theater screen is so large.

JVC and Sony are the leaders in 4K LCOS projectors. The Sony models have just went up in value, since there is a possibility that JVC might not be able to ship the new projectors until sometime in 2022 because of COVID-19 lockdown in their automated factory. If this delay continues to happen it could put a shortage on projectors with Sony needing to fill the demand for the Christmas and holiday season.
