A very good review on AV Forums, that's exactly how I feel about it :

And last but not least, the differences between HDR flavours were once again negligible on my two displays. The DV image was slightly darker than the HDR10 layer but it didn’t dramatically alter the overall perception of the image. However, depending on your own kit, this may not be the case – some have mentioned the DV grade giving a much darker image than the HDR10 one but that wasn’t experienced on this reviewer’s equipment.

Also, let's remember that the first director of photography was fired during the shooting which may explain some imperfections on the original picture quality.

It's interesting as I was watching the 4k last night and I did think at that some shots weren't particularly well focused and then I read the wikipedia article after and read how the DoP was fired for out of focus shots.

I think the 4k looks good but it's really not a "wow" kind of picture but the remaster is 1000x better than the previous BD with it's terrible sharpening and lack of detail.

Watched some more of it and this is a good summary. The DOP and way it was shot has played a big role because it can look soft in some parts. I watched the new 'Breakdown' (Kurt Russell) restoration on disc the other night and I was more impressed with that, but that is to do with how it was shot. The focus on shots in Scream does take away from the obvious in your face detail, especially compared to the Breakdown transfer for example. But, the detail is improved and the old disc can be thrown away.

This is the best Scream has looked and I would advise fans to pick it up.

For anyone that wants the sequels released on 4K, I messaged Paramount about the sequels getting the 4K treatment on the 2 links below and got a response. They said they don't have any information about those editions at the moment, but to keep a look out on their page.

If you have a spare minute, it certainly won't hurt to drop them a message expressing your interest in them releasing Scream 2 and Scream 3 in 4K.

Same. I’m meeting Robert Kurtzman on Sunday and was looking forward to having him sign my copy too. Oh well, life goes on.

I was just about to post this, but glad I saw someone else did!

I did notice a lot of softer shots when I saw the theatrical screening last week. A softness that wasn’t seen in every single scene but sort of came and went. I wouldn’t be shocked if those were why they fired the DP, assuming this softness wasn’t Craven’s intent or someone higher up said something. I believe the majority of the film was already shot and I don’t think they reshot anything either.
