The issue is less that it’s delayed and more that we’ve gotten radio silence from the studio. At least Warner Bros let it known in advance that some of their box sets were delayed into November. Communication keeps people at ease and more forgiving.

I wouldn't call them "pastel colours". I think they're much more accurate than the cold BD transfer. Billy and Stu used to look like drowned corpses during the climax.

However...these cyan hues look suspiciously electric.

At this point it's safe to assume that more and more titles will continue to see delays until the ongoing supply chain issues get fully sorted.

I think it's interesting that a couple of smaller online retailers (and Paramount for that matter) are like "No, it hasn't been delayed. It just isn't out by the date we said it was going to be."

Now and again I forget how the bad the Blu-ray looked, then somebody reminds me and I experience a Vietnam flashback.

You must not have seen the actual disc and just looked at screenshots. Professional reviewers who know what they are talking about said it looked great.

[Show spoiler]This is sarcasm.

My favourite YouTuber said that as well as being Clever, Hip, and Scary™, the Blu-ray was The Best the Film Had Ever Looked™, even though Scream is An Old Film Which Wasn't Shot in HD™.

Old films can't look good.

It's so funny thinking back to the internet discussions during the early days of Blu-ray in the later part of the 2000's decade, how older movies could never look good on the format because "it wasn't shot in HD". I've lost count of how many times I've heard people utter that phrase, like people forget said older movies, and the ones they presumed were "shot in HD" were usually shot on 35mm film which produces a resolution much higher than the standard 1080p HD.

It looks weird like The Breakfast Club did, it's not the colour grading the film had originally

Lotta people still do this. There's "HD" and then "4k" of which nothing older than 2010 can be. If we're gonna dig deeper there are the ones who do this with decades of film i.e. "movie was made with 70s film so it won't look good."

Did anyone pre-order the steelbook from Best Buy? Best Buy says that if they don't ship it by November 1st, they're going to refund me and cancel the order.

People are just mind numbingly dumb about this stuff. Back when PS3 and blurays first came out, my roommate worked for a Sony store. Without fail, almost every day for months, people would come in and say their bluray disc wasn't working right. And the first question every time was "Do you own a PS3 or bluray player?"

Take a guess on how many of those people even knew what was being asked of them, even though every single bluray at the time had a big sticker on it that said ONLY PLAYABLE IN PS3 OR BLURAY PLAYERS.

or how about when widescreen became the norm and people wouldn't shut up about the black bars taking away part of their screen.

Now that we're in the days of 4K, it's endless complaints about 2KDI vs 4KDI, another gripe that makes no sense if you have any clue what you're talking about. Or it's the complaints mentioned below "how can it be 4K if it was shot in the 70s??!?!"

It never ends with these kinds of people, the answers for their complaints are at their fingertips, they just dont care to, or want to understand. They just want a reason to shake their fist at the sky.

To be fair. things were a lot different 10 years ago. We've discussed this a bit lately in the original thread for this release.

The DVD wasn't even anamorphic - so yeah, pretty much anything was a drastic improvement.

When you go back and read the reviews, issues were pointed out - but it's pretty obvious how a 4* transfer a decade ago judged by today's standards would be a 2.5*/3*.

A lot has changed since 2011.

I love how many awesomely rabid fans are in here.

"Not shot in HD" hehehehe... ah, I miss seeing theatrical releases on film. So much texture. Sometimes I wish there was a "scratched print" option for HD transfers.

I preordered my Scream Steelbook from Bullmoose months ago - haven't received any alerts from them, hoping it ships soon. That note about there typically being a week delay gives me a little hope.

At least the Neve-covered VHS I found on ebay should be here early next week, so that's something. Been feeling the itch for a full Scream marathon...

In what world are we living in where the steelbook (which is usually limited and rare) is readily available before the standard release?
