I just watched this trailer and, I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm excited to see this series. The last time I felt this excited to see a movie or TV series was back when they were promoting trailers for M. Night's movie, "Signs". Best yet? It has Jurassic Park's Sam Neil in it. I'm definitely going to be checking this one out.

Hold your excitement

It’s getting a whopping 36 out of 100

https://www.metacritic.com/tv/invasion-2021/season-1

I’m watching it now, and I know Apple TV doesn’t have a lot of content (compared to Amazon video and Netflix and even HBO max), but what it does have is usually strong. Usually

This is obviously their biggest failure. Or first dud

I don't know anything about this series at all, but I do have Apple TV+ and I do like sci-fi, so I will obviously be checking this out and I'll see if I like it or not.

I couldn't care less about what any reviewers think about anything.

As far as Apple's first dud, I think that honor would probably go to any series that has been cancelled so far. I think there's been 1 or 2.

Watched the first 2 episodes. I'd rather have a root canal. I did not even bother watching the 3rd.

But it’s not any one reviewer. It’s allllll reviewers.

Of course watch it and judge for yourself

But just for the record, know and remember that reviewers aren’t here to piss you off. They’re a tool. A tool for YOU to use to make an informed decision regarding your money and your TIME.

Yes, I understand that that site is an aggregate of various reviews and the score gets updated as more get added.

So far there seems to be 3 positive, 8 mixed and 2 negative. That doesn't really tell me much.

I guess that reviews are perhaps useful tools for some people, and that's fine, but I personally have never paid much attention to reviews.

I watched the first episode and so far found it pretty dull. Anytime there was a moment of, oh, this might get interesting it would go back to people having affairs or other dull run of the mill stuff for too long. There were also a lot of dopey moments or decisions no one would usually make. The end of the first episode I couldn't even make out what it showed in the final shot. I was not impressed enough to try episode 2 yet. I like Sam Neill so had some hopes for this one. May try another episode later.

Can Sam Neill in his 70's carry this show and do things someone in their 50's probably can't do?

Who knows...

If you ever wondered what an alien invasion show would be like if the producers forgot to put the aliens or invasion in it, this is for you.

I'm all for slow burns, but this is just taking the ****.

I'm enjoying it. Except for the lack of Sam Neill.

Sam Neill and alien invasion? Sign me up! I was so excited for this show... it’s not looking good though. Not only is Neill absent for two and three (haven’t watched four yet), but the show feels like it’s going absolutely nowhere, and all indications from reviewers, who got to see all 10 episodes at once, are that my feelings are correct.

Without spoiling anything, the Hollywood Reporter is particularly critical: “Invasion [isn’t] scary or exciting, with directors ... failing to mount any memorable set pieces. Invasion is science fiction without much science or any real genre thrills ... anticlimactic and perplexing ... I’m truly not sure if the 10th episode’s ending opens the door for a second season or if I care.”

Should I even waste 7 more hours of my life with this?

No
Because time is worth more than money, and you can’t get it back.

Wow from everyone this looks like a dull thud, have the aliens even shown up yet? Or has it all been all boring family drama to set up the characters?

yes, it's a slow burn, but, i'm enjoying it. i think a big part of it is how people handle what appears to be going on and to this point, nobody knows it's "ET"aliens (assuming it actually turns out to be "ET" aliens). i like that it's seen from several main perspectives one of which is children. i think the show does a good job of having these people put under incredible pressure to survive, yet, still have to deal with everyday shit while having to deal with the unknown.

it requires patients (i think) so, i'm giving it that and enjoying how it's unfolding.

i'm in for the long haul, so, for now, i'm giving it a
