The last time I bought a disc that was so scratched up it didn't play was Fortress 2 on DVD from a flea market for $1, but when I tried re-burning it on a PC that copy played fine. I'm not familiar with scratches on UHDs, though, but I have to assume they have to be extremely dangerous since the data is so packed, HDDVDs suffered from the same thing. The only time I've ever scratched a Blu Ray is when I was trying to do it, I'm not really sure how so many discs get scuffed in the replication plants but it seems to happen more and more these days.

Just watched in full, perhaps I need to pull out the Lionsgate 4K, but outside of the blue sky shots (I hate how it messes up the seamless look of things like electrical wires that cross it, and how it looks like mostly solid grainless blue mixed with patches of mosquito noise) and things like lit white front doors (both instances that make compression inadequacies stand out more to me), the compression flaws don’t stand out much here, at least enough for me to consider this over a lesser source. It is very possible I will prefer this release to the older one. I do prefer the new release of H3. So far it is looking like H2 is the sour one due to the glitches.

Does the 15 disc sell for much anymore? Thinking to keep both 4K editions given the differing presentations. For the Lionsgate 4K of the 35th Anniversary restoration, it comes with the 2007 Divimax version as a BD and that same presentation is on disc 3 of the new Shout. Though surprisingly the new Shout disc with it drops the Criterion commentary, unlike the BD that accompanies the Lionsgate 4K and the BD in the Shout Deluxe Edition set. I think I would like to include a BD of the 35th Anniversary restoration, which means either the 2013 Anchor Bay disc or the one from the 2014 Deluxe Edition, and the one from the box set is preferable as the mono track as we all know was borked on the Anchor Bay version.

"So who cares? I always forget my Chemistry book, and my Math book and my English book and my... Let's see my French book and, oh who needs books? I don't need books, I always forget all of my books, I mean, it doesn't really matter if you have your books or not! Hey isn't that Devon Graham?"

EDIT: And to be clear, I friggin' LOVE this release. I'm not a hater of it in any way; I'm completely satisfied. But I gotta calls 'em like I sees 'em: in that one shot, that railroad sign should not have been left pea-green, no matter how "cool" you're making the daylight. It's really not a big deal, in my opinion. I almost wish I hadn't answered the question about it, since any further discussion of such a minor issue puts a spotlight on it which is out of proportion to the seriousness of the error itself. I didn't even notice the pea-green railroad sign on three viewings, 'til someone here pointed it out... and I'm a lifelong fan of this flick who's owned every version since VHS, and who knows every frame.

The sign is actually important from a symbolic standpoint in the shot. It represents caution and the crossing represents how she will intersect with Michael. It also foreshadows the scene with Loomis and the truck a few minutes later.

Pea green is obviously a warning to eat more vegetables for extra strength to run away from Michael Myers.

I just read this in Patrick Bateman's voice. It was perfect.
