The last time I bought a disc that was so scratched up it didn't play was Fortress 2 on DVD from a flea market for $1, but when I tried re-burning it on a PC that copy played fine. I'm not familiar with scratches on UHDs, though, but I have to assume they have to be extremely dangerous since the data is so packed, HDDVDs suffered from the same thing. The only time I've ever scratched a Blu Ray is when I was trying to do it, I'm not really sure how so many discs get scuffed in the replication plants but it seems to happen more and more these days.

I think blocking in the blue sky in day shots looks worse. Enough with this, threw in the BD. Unlike H2 and its 4K/BD, I dont think the H1 BD here is a good alternate option to get around compression of the 4K. The compression isn’t good here either. Better than the 4K, but it does not outweigh the resolution loss and is really noticeable compared to the 4K.
How are you watching it? With HDR10 or Dolby Vision?

The pressure to get so many packaged within so little time might have something to do with it. Only two plants, the rest are closed and more discs are being sold than before and the number of titles are (or at least seems) to be increasing.

USA Lionsgate Halloween 4K- bad audio

Wondering if my disc has disc rot and if anyone knows if Lionsgate has a disc replacement program. The audio skips and is static sounding for like the first 3 or 4 chapters.

I've been collecting since the DVD days, and have seen it gradually get worse in the last couple years. It used to be unheard of for me to open a sealed Blu Ray and see scratches, I never even had that happen on HDDVD even once. I still remember the first time I finally got a scratched Blu Ray off eBay used I was speechless because I had never seen it after years of buying used movies. Yet this year alone I've probably returned 10 discs because it had a nice looking scratch down it after I opened it. How about getting your replacement and it's also scratched, good times. There's also the black gunk on discs, that I never saw in my life until just last year or so. Crushed cases and slipcovers are another story.

They used to have a reputation for rot on a ton of their discs made before 2011 or so, can't say I've seen it on anything recent, especially not a UHD. Contact them, though, sounds like a player problem with the digital stream or perhaps the disc is dirty, or the data is being corrupted. The most recent disc I've had rot was a Discotek release from 2015 that was completely dead it wouldn't even load to menu, they were great and replaced it when I asked.

Just watched in full, perhaps I need to pull out the Lionsgate 4K, but outside of the blue sky shots (I hate how it messes up the seamless look of things like electrical wires that cross it, and how it looks like mostly solid grainless blue mixed with patches of mosquito noise) and things like lit white front doors (both instances that make compression inadequacies stand out more to me), the compression flaws don’t stand out much here, at least enough for me to consider this over a lesser source. It is very possible I will prefer this release to the older one. I do prefer the new release of H3. So far it is looking like H2 is the sour one due to the glitches.

Does the 15 disc sell for much anymore? Thinking to keep both 4K editions given the differing presentations. For the Lionsgate 4K of the 35th Anniversary restoration, it comes with the 2007 Divimax version as a BD and that same presentation is on disc 3 of the new Shout. Though surprisingly the new Shout disc with it drops the Criterion commentary, unlike the BD that accompanies the Lionsgate 4K and the BD in the Shout Deluxe Edition set. I think I would like to include a BD of the 35th Anniversary restoration, which means either the 2013 Anchor Bay disc or the one from the 2014 Deluxe Edition, and the one from the box set is preferable as the mono track as we all know was borked on the Anchor Bay version.

So, the shot with the green sign is correct, due to the daytime lighting?

No. That is an error/oversight in the color suite.

EDIT: And to be clear, I friggin' LOVE this release. I'm not a hater of it in any way; I'm completely satisfied. But I gotta calls 'em like I sees 'em: in that one shot, that railroad sign should not have been left pea-green, no matter how "cool" you're making the daylight.

It's really not a big deal, in my opinion. I almost wish I hadn't answered the question about it, since any further discussion of such a minor issue puts a spotlight on it which is out of proportion to the seriousness of the error itself. I didn't even notice the pea-green railroad sign on three viewings, 'til someone here pointed it out... and I'm a lifelong fan of this flick who's owned every version since VHS, and who knows every frame.

The sign is actually important from a symbolic standpoint in the shot. It represents caution and the crossing represents how she will intersect with Michael. It also foreshadows the scene with Loomis and the truck a few minutes later.

Pea green is obviously a warning to eat more vegetables for extra strength to run away from Michael Myers.

I just read this in Patrick Bateman's voice. It was perfect.
