Kills is fast-paced, but it feels way more consistent and does a much better job of making one/two-scene characters likable before they’re inevitably killed, the humor is way more appropriately timed, the kills themselves are much better, the cinematography is leagues above 2018 (though not without flaws), and the movie itself is way more emotional. I don’t get the complaints that it has “no plot;” it has a lot of plot, it just doesn’t push the “Laurie vs Michael” narrative forward. The dialogue is definitely worse, though. I’ll give 2018 that much haha Last edited by flash.over; 10-23-2021 at 12:55 PM. |

This movie was messy entertaining. Sort of like TDKR.
It feels like all I want to do is talk bad about it, but I enjoyed it enough. Beyond some kind of sheer entertainment value, I don't like Green's two movies that much when I put thought into them. For Kills: -I like the flashback scene. It's pretty well done....I think it's my favorite scene from the Green movies. -I thought the gay couple was a highlight of the film. The first enjoyable characters in these two movies. The humor didn't seem to drag things down for me like it did some people. -I enjoyed Kyle Richards and Charles Cyphers. But, the movie is mostly gore porn. It lacks atmosphere, the pacing isn't good and the dialogue isn't good. They should have cast Gerard Butler to play Tommy Doyle because hammy dialogue fits him. This movie can't stand on its own. It doesn't feel like it has a real beginning... Nor a real ending. I know that it's part of a trilogy, but it isn't like we haven't had them before... But usually it feels like each movie can stand on its own to some degree. Not here. The mob in the hospital scene was idiotic: [Show spoiler] These movies take from sequels that the filmmakers want us to forget even happened. It's nonsense. The 2018 film also has poor pacing, little tension and the lack of stalk and slash in these movies is annoying. Ranking: Halloween (1978) Halloween II (1981) Halloween 4 (1988) Halloween: H20 (1998) Halloween 6 (1995) Halloween 5 (1989) Halloween III (1982) Halloween Kills (2021) Halloween (2018) Halloween (2007) Halloween Resurrection (2002) Halloween (2009) |

I think I'll stick with the standard release over the steelbook. I dig the artwork of the steelbook but I don't like the red coloring. If it were in orange I would buy it. But at least the standard has orange and Michael's face in a similar way as the standard H'18 release. So it'll feel like I'm keeping with some sort of collection continuity.
As for the movie itself, it was way better than H'18. But that's not saying much. |

I just watched this last night. The dialogue is horrible. Anthony Michael Hall’s performance just wasn’t convincingly delivered for me. The mob idea makes sense, but it was poorly executed to me. For all that was happening, I never really felt the tension or angst of the town or the individual encounters. The hospital mob scenes lacked a rawness that I would have wanted to see.I’m also a fan of the less graphic kill style. I like letting the audience imagine what must have happened more so than witnessing it. I generally think that modern movies reveal too much and miss out on the power of tapping into the audiences ability to imagine certain events. The humor was definitely better, and they did establish the 1/2 scene victims better. I enjoyed Big John and Little John by far the most out of the new characters. The music was also great.
I’m not a horror film or slasher buff, so I’m not the target audience. However, I do enjoy the original Halloween and other more psychological horror type movies. As a result, this movie was ok to watch for me, but I’m glad it came free with my Xfinity subscription because I probably wouldn’t buy it. I’ll look forward to seeing what Halloween Ends has in store, but I didn’t enjoy the execution of this movie. I think the premise could have worked, but like a lot of the movies I’ve watched streamed in the past year, WW84, Reminiscence, and Malignant, it was poorly executed and failed to get me engrossed in the world I was watching. |

Watched it on Peacock last night. Absolutely cringe worthy script and acting. I did enjoy a few kills, but the story is just silly af. I’ll stick with the original and part two for my Halloween viewing pleasure.

![]() [Show spoiler] I liked the movie a lot, and definitely look forward to Halloween Ends. Already pre-ordered the standard Blu-ray off Gruv. The Halloween franchise is my all time favorite horror franchise. Does it have it's flaws? Yes, but they're so much fun to watch. ![]() |

![]() I can't wait for this dogshit trilogy to be over with. I'm more interested in what comes next than I am for Halloween Ends. Just get it over with already. Btw, I found the music in Kills to be rather shit. It's a VERY weak score by John Carpenter and Co. Normally Carpenter does some amazing work but H'18 was very underwhelming and HK was straight up garbage. |

I was perfectly fine with the lack of character development in this film. It’s an extension of the night from Halloween ’18, so a lot of that stuff had already been established for the characters that matter. My complaint is that for a trilogy of films which aims to bring Michael back to being ‘just a man’, I was expected by the filmmakers to suspend my disbelief -way- too much. Michael seemed superhuman and that kind of left me scratching my head. Other than that, I had a pretty good time watching him do his thing and can’t wait to see what comes next.

Don't get me wrong, a crazed murderer is a much more important topic of conversation than that of high school relationship drama, but I guess Cameron sobered up and there wasn't any forgiveness begged of on either side. I think there were good opportunities (for the sake of story/character) for them to just bring that up again. Otherwise, the scene and moment in 2018 happened for no reason other than writing a way to split them apart. |

Alyson was upset in the heat of the moment but looking at this realistically that entire incident would be something they would laugh off later. And if people think that an incident like that would be the end of a relationship then it makes me question any real relationships you may have had. People are human, they make mistakes, and what Cameron did was a silly little screw up. He’s a 17-18 year old boy in high school, like what do you expect? I’m shocked the whole thing has vilified him so much amongst Halloween fans, it’s really stupid. |
