OK then... 5/31/09 shakes out like this.

Mugello.
Rossi's home track.
Fiat's (sponsor) home race.
Rossi's attempt at his 99th victory. (premier class)
Rossi has won at Mugello 7 years running....goin' fer 8-in-a-row.

PRESSURE?
I should add...

Younger teammate is leading the C'ship. That right there is the big one. In racing, the most important opponent to defeat is your teammate...and Jorge is showing that his quiver is loaded.

Of course he's not immune, but he is superhuman.
Please explain. Counter-clockwise and right turns.

Yea he is superhuman. But I think a new superhuman has joined his world. Yamaha was genius to sign Jorge. He has the charisma and the skill to replace a retiring (when it happens) Rossi.

Not to take anything away from Lorenzo- and he is a contender- but he's leading because of an anomaly (listen up, Trekkers!). This is not to say that he can't hold on, but were I a betting man...

That thread is definately SCARY!

I try to always stay away from the DTS-HD MA vs. Dolby TrueHD arguments, but I keep looking at the poll results and end up reading a few posts... YIKES!!

On one hand, you have some posters saying that DTS-HD MA is better because it's digital, and Dolby TrueHD is not, or else it would be called Dolby Digital TrueHD, or DTS-HD MA is better because it can do 7.1 and Dolby TrueHD can't. On the other hand, you have the other side of the coin, which generally uses logic to back up their opinion, but often does so in a way akin to insulting one's girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband... which often doesn't change one's opinion, but rather makes them ticked off at the person who said it. Truly an emotional poll...

Still, at least one of your questions for the poll:

Appears to have been somewhat answered by the ratio regardless of any emotional attachment to one codec versus another.

False!!! Rossi has a fall every year. AND Lorenzo had a DNF earlier....so toss you anomaly THEORY out the widow bro. Hes leading because he is doing his job well.

Do I really need to? It's not tough. If you're following the perimeter of a circle, you're traveling in a single trajectory. If you're travelling, say, counter-clockwise along that perimeter, that single trajectory has a leftward slant to it- to complete the loop and return to the start/finish line, you would never need to steer to the right.

Meanwhile, every MotoGP race I've ever seen (and that's quite a few) involves both left and right turns. Unlike, say, NASCAR. This is but one of the 13-bazillion reasons that I do watch MotoGP and I don't watch NASCAR.

Yes, and every year, that fall is an anomaly, relative to the rest of his results for the year.

Ugh. It's still a circle..... "the *circle* of life".........or "We have been walking in *circles*"......or "let's *circle* back and surprise them"

To end where one began is a circle....I aint talking literal geometry here.

Anyway...MotoGP goes clockwise (mostly)

How can it be an anomaly if it is a predictable regularity?

Jorge really only needs to learn ONE thing. It's OK to finish in 2nd or 3rd or 4th. You dont need to win every race. Points are better than a heroic effort that results in a fall.

It's amazing how much more I know about racing than these multi-million dollar athletes do.

Yes, again, as distinct from NASCAR, on which I was basing my example.

Really, I was just trying to write myself an excuse to take a swipe at NASCAR. I do get your point about the more general "circle".

Bash away. I never understood why that was considered "racing". It's more of a survivor-of-carnage-lottery.

Sadly, Rossi says he is a big fan of NASCAR.

Nice! Since you put it that way, I might actually have the slightest interest in it if it were named Survival-of-Carnage-Lottery rather than NASCAR.

I've never heard him say that. Thank god he seems more interested in pursuing rally or F1 after retirement. Dale Jr. and co. don't deserve him.

Yep. Blew my mind too. Yes, WRC and F1 are his retirement hobbies.

His interest in "SOCL" is strictly as a fan. And.....sit down and hold on....I read that he doesnt miss a race ... He records them. .

Maybe he views them as American Comedy.

Or American Tragedy.

I've never understood how it can be deemed "racing", either. I tend to think of racing as something requiring the availability of at least the opportunity to pass.

With all the shared off-track soap opera, you could say: NASCAR + racing = MotoGP.

True. They're probably tough enough to take it, though.

Other than my horrifically slanted [they] "don't deserve him" comment, I think all my statements were of the "I don't get it" variety. As much as I don't, I remain open-minded about it and maybe someone can make a convincing argument.

Was very impressed with DaVinci, getting Air Force One next week, and Ghostbusters a few weeks after that. Good stretch for SPHE. Not so good stretch for SPHE A&D movie cash...still waiting. LOL.
