Default Why do people sign their posts?

I'm not judging so don't get defensive.

I see this on several forums and I'm curious as to why people sign their posts, I'd like to know the reasoning behind it. I am not referring to signatures but when people actually type their name at the end of the post as I have done here.

We can clearly see who has made the post because your name is right next to it along with your avatar so recognition can't be the reason.

thanks for explaining,

TB

Are you talking about the auto-signature? If so, then it's to post their "stats" so to speak...or just have that whimsical quip or something funny for people to see every time they post.

Or are you saying "why do people put their name in their auto-signatures?"?

Or are you saying "why do people sign their name at the end of their post?" like I have done below?

Best Regards,
Brett

That, I do not know. I personally have always felt the same way in that I don't really get it. It seems kind of unneeded, but to each his (or her) own as they say. It doesn't really bother me.

My wife (and some buddies) have signatures set up on their e-mail client, and whenever they initiate an e-mail chain, their signature shows up. I always get a kick out of that, as if I didn't know who sent me the e-mail and they need to reiterate.

jeus christ... I am not talking about the "signature function."

I am talking about when people type crap and then do this at the end.

Actually I do that in emails too or Facebook messages (not wall posts).

See how I just merged the two threads there I've been scaling it back though.
