I think one issue with is that many people watch movies today as a critic. They want to find details to nitpick at so they can do some kind of review . instead of just watching it just to watch a movie, they watch it to deconstruct it and that doesnt let the movie engross you. IMO.

Also, probably doesnt apply to anyone here, but many people and by their own admission watch these movies on a phone or ipad and there is no way you can really appreciate any movie in that way.

Nitpick?

Good, you can read a definition. Unfortunately, you can't tell the difference between nitpicking and discussing actual major flaws to a film. You're just another sad apologist when it suits you, but I highly doubt you just go thru any film without having any issues with their conception.

And fan service is fun when it's done cleverly. Having a geriatric Brackett fumble his 40 year old one liner from H78, is just cringe.

You must be a blast at parties. Every one loves the guy who spends time being angry and miserable online and cant take some light ribbing .

I have issues with lots of movies. Though if a movie is entertaining i can forgive a lot.

You arent the gatekeeper of when fan service is or isnt fun.
Lighten up.

You're right, I'm also not the janitor of film taste either.

Being a hit at parties is not really relevant and neither is your baseless claim against someone you don't know. Save your ribbing for your friends, if you have any.

You also used a keyword "entertained". Well, that's probably most people's issue with certain badly made movies. They aren't entertained by them, and can't simply put blinders on.

You may be easy to please with seeing a bunch of legacy characters that had nothing of value to add to the movie spouting endless chit chat and exposition about 40 years ago, things the fans and audiences ALREADY KNOW, before getting unceremoniously dispatched. but others were just bored and disenchanted by the cheap, lazy pandering.

I don't care if anyone likes it, that's not even the point. That guy seems to take issue with those who DON'T like movies he does.

Well thank you for letting me have my opinion. I'd hate to think that someone would just claim that people who see issues with films just don't know how to enjoy a movie and are just miserable debbie downers who ruin the illusion of ignorance. I certainly don't plop down my hard earned dollars to analyze a movie, somebody better put me on a payroll for that task. People just tend to be more observant than others, even to a fault.

Just so we're clear, your "charming" assessment earlier has no place in facts either. What you were saying was devaluing the concept of opinions simply because you don't agree with them.

Very true. I know they wanted the Loomis moment to be a huge and shocking "oh sh--" reveal, but the entire sequence just fell incredibly flat. It was downright embarrassing.

H20 and Resurrection are the absolute worst.
