Default 25 Days of Christmas/Holiday Movies (2021)

9th Annual 25 Days Of Christmas/Holiday Movies!

Thanks everyone for being a part of this great event every year, enjoy the movies and enjoy this thread.

We will be doing 2 prizes this year with both of them being a $5 Amazon gift card, stay tuned to the section below for updates on the giveaways

Since this is holiday based the goal here is to watch 25 Christmas/Holiday themed movies (any movie counts as long as you consider it a Holiday/Christmas movie) starting Dec. 1st leading up to Christmas (we know holidays can be busy so watch as little or as many movies as you like). I am starting this early so feel free to start your holiday movies anytime and please give feedback etc. on this event here.

Every time you watch a movie, make your post and give a rating and your thoughts on it. This should get everyone into the Christmas spirit and give us movie buffs ideas on movies we may not have seen. Please keep your thoughts generic and if you post spoilers, use the spoiler tags. The movies don't have to be on blu-ray.

Happy Holidays And Enjoy Everyone!!!!

- Epic Disaster; one of the worst out there
- Tad under average (2.5 would make it an average viewing)
- Above average
- Great Highly Recommended
- Masterpiece!; one of the best

That's early. lol. I'm gonna start after Nov 11. I'm watching war movies right now in the run up to Remembrance Day.

Def early but wanted to catch anyone who wanted to start early and I haven't been as active on here due to a busy schedule so didn't want anyone waiting on me to post this thread. Thanks for the half Santa Mikezilla3k.

Season's Greetings Folks!!! Joining in again this year. I unofficially started on September 30th with Black Christmas as part of my Halloween viewings.

9/30/21: Black Christmas (1974) - First time watch, based on recommendations from last year's thread. Good thriller with a spooky ending and my goodness...Olivia Hussey is beautiful. There was a genuine attempt at character development which aided in the whodunit aspect of the film. However there's an oversight in the story which is unforgivable.

11/6/21: Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas (1977) - First time watch. Good story, lovely visuals but found it boring until the final 10 minutes or so.

11/6/21: Fatman (2020) - First time watch and will be added to the annual must watch list. Absolutely ridiculous Santa story about change and adaptation…loved every minute of it!!!

Christmas is December for me.

I did 25 days of Xmas last year but this year there's nothing new or interesting on my watchlist aside from maybe "Black Friday".

11/7/21: Santa Claus: The Movie (1985) - First time watch. This started off really well with those magical, fantasy qualities you expect from traditional Christmas movies but lost the plot around the 42 minute mark and never recovered.

11/9/21: Miracle on 34th Street (1947) 1/2 - First time watch, may become a staple. Charming film with top notch acting and an abrupt ending. The 1994 remake is good but this one has more of that "Christmas Magic".

I wait till December to start Xmas movie watching.
Jingle All The Way is the one to always start with. I also watch The Santa Clause and on Christmas Eve I usually watch Nightmare Before Xmas or the Zemeckis Christmas Carol.

Since I have Disney + I might watch the two home alone movies too.

I'm gonna start in the week leading up to Thanksgiving. I'm still watching war movies, then I have to get caught up on some movies I missed in the summer, and Yellowstone.

Haven't seen any of the Rankin-Bass Specials since I was a kid so I thought I'd revisit them this year.

11/10/21: Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer (1964) - Santa had an uncharacteristic mean streak in this one...Gadzooks!

11/10/21: Cricket on the Hearth (1967) 1/2 - First Time Watch. Some good vocal performances but the overall tone of this was a little too depressing for me.

11/11/21: A Claymation Christmas Celebration (1987) - First time watch. You've got to respect the effort that went into this production. Unfortunately, while the bells skit was funny and the Joy to the World segment was very creative, the rest of it fell flat.

About the only holiday movie I will watch before xmas is Plane, Trains & Automobiles (and of course A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.) Once Turkey Day is here, bring on the holiday films.

11/12/21: A Muppet Family Christmas (1987) - First Time Watch and will be added to the annual watch list. Almost EVERY classic Muppet you know and love is in this one and they're up to their typical shenanigans. And then...there's that wonderful cameo at the end. Marvelous!
