Are we absolutely sure that this film wasn't finished and released in 1984 in some limited fashion somewhere and that the print wasn't lost?

According to http://templeofschlock.blogspot.com/...rporation.html, the film was released (or scheduled to be released) in December 1984:

Quote:
NEW YORK NINJA (December 1984)
"International karate champ John Liu is TV technician who turns vengeful ninja following the brutal murder of his wife." No other details available.
It was also included in a full page ad from 21st Century Distribution Corporation as a February release:

Damn.... That would have been cool slipcover artwork

If a print of this is discovered it will be interesting to say the least, then we can compare the original to the remix lol

I don't believe it was. They apparently tried selling it off to other companies like Troma but no one wanted to finish it at the time.

Ads in the trades back then had a whole bunch of movies that some weren't even in pre-production. Companies were always trying to get pre-sales on some stuff, and use that money to finance the film's eventual making.

Do you know how many unreleased video games had this same thing happen to them? Full page ads in magazines, reviews even, and then they go unfinished/unreleased.

Could be, but interestingly it would be the only one on that particular ad that didn't get released.

Yes but they have been in contact with people that worked on the film. Someone would have spilled that the movie was actually released.

You should email them. In stock items are suppose to ship within one day of your order (per their own store policy in the FAQ section). Are you a subscriber? If you selected to ship it with your subscription it won't ship till after Black Friday.

No, I'm not a subscriber. I'm not too worried about New York Ninja, as I know that I'll definitely get a copy, although I am really looking forward to watching it. But I also ordered Pieces and it seems every time I check the numbers keep going down. There were about 30 copies when I placed my order on November 1st and as of right now they're down to 22 copies. I was avoiding contacting them, but it's been just short of a week now and my order still hasn't been shipped so I went ahead and just sent them an e-mail. Hopefully they're quick to respond and it won't be too long before they ship it out and I receive it.

I got a response from them and it looks like the issue is that they're just waiting to get more copies of Pieces to be delivered to their Canadian warehouse.

I also would liked to have seen David Cronenberg's New York Ninja.

To think that Danny Steinmann was supposed to direct a sequel to The Last House on the Left. There was a newspaper ad for it, but I can't for the life of me find a scan anywhere.

Cronenberg’s Frankenstein is definitely something I would’ve been interested in seeing.
